The craziness that followed the Starwood acquisition news saw Hyatt scrambling and offering Hyatt Diamond. While the hotel giant has previously accepted top tier statuses with competing programs like IHG Spire Elite, Hilton Diamond Elite, Marriott Platinum Elite and SPG Platinum Elite, the conditions of getting a status match have become more stringent over time.
I have submitted a status match to Hyatt Diamond using my Hilton Diamond Elite account and was given the following response:
Dear Mr. Chua,
I hope that this message finds you well.
It is my pleasure to inform you that we have upgraded your account to Platinum until February 2017. You will begin to enjoy the many benefits of the Platinum tier status such as guaranteed availability 72 hours prior to arrival, best room within the category booked, as well as 15% bonus points per stay among many other wonderful benefits.
You may maintain this tier going forward by completing 5 eligible stays or 15 qualifying nights between January 1 – December 31, 2016.
As part of a limited time special offer, we are currently matching elite status with peer programs to Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum status. At this time, the only way to achieve the Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond tier is to complete the normal earning criteria or to submit Starwood Preferred Guest information showing Platinum status, as well as 20 nights with SPG in the last 12 months.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Welcome to Hyatt Platinum!
While I do not blame Hyatt at all for matching me to Platinum, I am just pretty disappointed since it was offered but not carried through. On the other hand, kudos to Hilton for doing this right!
Standard Chartered is once again offering you the chance to win up to S$100 cashback when you pay Spin The Wheel Game between 16 May 2018 and 15 July 2018. There is also the opportunity to win S$3,000 cashback in a monthly lucky draw (total of 50 winners!). Strangely enough, the bank is also offering a S$5 cashback towards coffee purchase when you spend any eligible Standard Chartered Credit Cards overseas in foreign currency.
Hilton is currently offering up to 30% discount on room rates at all participating Hilton properties in Southeast Asia - this is valid for stays that are completed between 23 May 2018 and 31 December 2018. All reservations must be made before by 8 June 2018 (8:00AM GMT) and the discount is at its highest for Hilton Honors members.
If you are planning to travel to Japan, South Korea or Guam over the next couple of months before the end of 31 August 2018, Hilton Honors is currently a running a 25% off sale and it comes with a US$50 nightly credit at all participating properties so it is actually not a bad time to start booking for those stays - all reservations have to be made before the end of 31 May 2018.
OCBC Bank is currently running a limited time promotion with Emirates to offer 20X Rewards (equivalent to 8 miles per SGD) on all eligible flights booked via this specific landing page. This promotion is capped at S$1,000 (meaning to say you can only earn up to 8,000 bonus miles) and you will have to book it between 15-21 May 2018. Additionally, eligible OCBC Cardholders will also be able to enjoy up to 12% off on Flex and Flex Plus (10% off Saver) Economy Class fares.
Mark your calendar because Mileslife is offering a fantastic 5X miles promotion over the next four days (14-17 May 2018). All eligible transactions made on the app (excluding Mileslife credit top-ups and the purchase of gift cards) will earn you 5X more miles - bonus miles are capped at 2,000 miles per day. This means to say that if a restaurant typically gives you 3 miles per dollar, you are looking at a whooping 15 miles per dollar next four days!
Limited to the first 2,500 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members only, purchase 10,000 miles and get 40% more! This essentially creates the opportunity to purchase 14,000 miles at USD 295.63 (after the tax recovery fee has been included) which is great for topping up your account for redemptions in the event you need them.
I have never been targeted with any Hilton Honors promotion (apart form the global ones that they run) and so I was surprised to find an email this morning for the registration of a double stay credit promotion. This targeted offer will allow me to earn twice the stay credit (essentially each completed stay will count as two stays) completed between 26 February 2018 and 31 December 2018 (why am I only receiving this now?!).
I wrote about the possibility of getting 20% cashback on Grab rides with an eligible Standard Chartered credit card last week and speculated that the arrangement (which was previously forged with Uber prior to the merger) would be extended now that the Grab-Uber merger is on the horizon. While Standard Chartered appears to have extended this promotion up until July 2018, they have lowered the maximum amount of cashback that you can get each calendar month to SGD 30 (from SGD 50).
The long wait is finally over - you can now add all your eligible Citibank credit cards to your Apple devices and you will earn up to 20X Rewards (that's 8 miles per dollar!) on all Apple Pay purchases made between 26 April 2018 and 31 July 2018. According to the terms and conditions posted on the site, there is no mention on the maximum number of bonus points that you can earn through this limited-time promotion so it is definitely a good idea to add it to your wallet and start raking up those miles!
From now until 23 May 2018, purchase at least 10,000 World of Hyatt Points and get 40% more! Eligible World of Hyatt members are allowed to purchase up to 55,000 points per calendar year and you should only consider buying if you have a specific use for them in mind (e.g. redeeming them at expensive properties).
