I checked out an event organised by the Entertainer Singapore at one of the latest dining establishments which only quite recently opened along Cross Street - Club Meatballs. In case you have not guessed it already, Club Meatballs is one of the merchants that you will be able to enjoy your BOGO privileges at.

The first thing you will notice you when you get to Club Meatballs is the impeccable design. It employs a clever use of texture and colours to create an always beach-club-like atmosphere and I really love it. With enough drinks (and they are full adult-strength drinks here), you can definitely picture the sun, sand and sea.

The Negroni (S$17++) is one of the best drinks that I have had in a while - and I actually had three of these in just one seating. Created using Gin, Carpano Antica and Gran Classico, this drink is a must-try for every man that steps foot here. Instead of using Campari, the Negroni at Club Meatballs uses Gran Classico for a greater intensity and depth of flavour.

The food here was actually really good and while some components of certain dishes did not fully deliver, I thought it was a really good atmosphere with generally delicious food all in all.

One of my favourite starters at Club Meatballs is the Ricotta, Mango, Walnuts and Honey Bruschetta (S$9++). While it may look intimidating to some (especially to those who turn their heads away when they hear ricotta), I can assure you that every component of this particular dish goes together perfectly. The cold ricotta and the sweetness of the mango is being contrasted by the sourness of the berries while the walnuts give the dish overall texture and crunch - ingenious!

The Sobrassada and Gorgonzola Bruschetta (S$10.50++) pictured above is slightly spicy and the cheese may be slightly overwhelming to some. Not my favourite dish of the night since I thought the heat from the dish was not particularly balanced. Still, it may be an interesting dish for you to try.

My second favourite dish of the night is the Huevos Con Chorizo which is actually not yet available as of this moment. This dish which is made up of crushed omelette with chorizo (made in-house) and slices of toasted ciabatta is going to be launched in Club Meatballs' weekend brunch menu in the near future.

The Wagyu Beef and Rosemary Balls with Onion & Red Wine Sauce & Mashed Potato (S$19.50++) is my third favourite dish. While the Wagyu Beef and Rosemary Balls were slightly dry for my personal preference, the mashed potato is easily one of the best that I have ever tasted. The texture is smooth and consistent with bits of potato chunks that are placed inside deliberately - every thing you can ever ask for from a potato mash.

My fourth favourite dish of the evening is the White Chocolate Cheesecake with Almond Crumble and Berries (S$12++). Those who know me will know that I am not a dessert person but this dish was excellent. The white chocolate cheesecake was definitely the best part - soft and delicious while remaining consistent throughout. This is the dish to end your night with (as you wash it down with another glass of Negroni).

Club Meatballs combines a mix of aesthetic beauty through the decor and food presentation without disappointing on the most important component - the food. While the meatballs are slightly dry for my personal liking, I think that the restaurant has huge potential in becoming an iconic destination for weekenders seeking for an alternative dining experience. The drinks and desserts at Club Meatballs are definitely their strength right now and it will be interesting to see how they can catch up in the Mains department for this restaurant to deliver the perfect punch.
