Philippines is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes and beaches in the world. While Boracay and Palawan often come to minds of people who dream of perfect beach vacations, Cebu should be right there too - alongside delicious Cebuano cuisine like the lip-smacking lechon. During my visit to Cebu a number of months back, I stayed in a Ocean Wing Panorama Room at the Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu. Check out what makes this the best hotel in Cebu, Philippines!
While Myanmar is slowly opening up to more tourists and foreign investments, it is still in its infancy stage of mass tourism so if you are interested to see the city before it evolves into that, it is best to go there by the end of 2017. Located along Sule Pagoda Road lies one of the most luxurious hotels in the city of Yangon - the Sule Shangri-La, Yangon. Following an extensive refurbishment and training for the staff of the property, the Sule Shangri-La, Yangon was rebranded from a Traders Hotel in 2014. I opted for the hotel limousine to take me from the Yangon International Airport to the hotel and similar to an earlier stay at the Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang, the limousine came equipped with high-speed WiFi so you can remain connected on the ride to the hotel.
As my birthday is around the corner, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts have once again sent me a birthday offer. While I have gotten the opportunity to earn triple Golden Circle points last year for dining in any participating restaurant during the stipulated period, I have been targeted with a 5X Golden Circle points offer this year. If you have read about The Table by Golden Circle, you will know that every member (free to sign-up!) will earn 10% back in equivalent points if you choose to redeem them for dining credit. Since I am a Jade member, I will receive 12.5% back in equivalent points. I do believe that the 5X bonus is on base points only and therefore this offer will actually let me earn back 52.5% in points.
The hairy crabs are back at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore's Shang Palace between now and 30 November 2016 and they are available for lunch and dinner - diners may opt of for the special prix fixe six-course hairy crab menu or from a selection of nine a la carte items. Known for it furry claws, the Chinese mitten crabs are only available for a few months each year, making the famous golden roe a seasonal delight.
The Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore is one of the most luxurious hotels you can stay in Singapore. If you have not been to this amazing property, you will almost definitely be blown away by the impressive rooms in the Garden Wing and the exclusive Valley Wing (which comes with free-flowing Champagne!). If you have been here, you will know how tempting it is to actually stay in the hotel all-day long. The Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore is proud to present an all-inclusive 'Stay, Sip and Savour' room package which helps you to do just that.
A brand new food and beverage loyalty programme by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has been announced - The Table by Golden Circle. Golden Circle has been around for the longest time and it is one of the most underrated hotel loyalty programs in the market (did you know that 10 stays a year gives you Jade status which means you ALWAYS enjoy breakfast for free at all properties so long you book an eligible rate?). The Table by Golden Circle is the latest initiative to the ongoing transformation of Golden Circle that has rolled out new benefits and partnerships as part of its nine-month Loyalty Is anniversary campaign.
With century-old rain trees that surround you, the Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, Penang is located along the Batu Feringgi Beach and it is just a short drive away from the famous Georgetown in Penang. For those of you who follow Malaysian politics, the state of Penang is an opposition state where supporters largely back the Democratic Action Party. More importantly though, Penang is a haven for food-lovers and is well known for her delicious hawker cuisine.
Looking to celebrate a special occasion? Check out the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore's brand new “Time Out” Weekend Staycation for two (available until 31 December 2016) at the lush Garden Wing which is set amongst 15 acres of tropical flora - check out my previous stay in the Garden Wing of the hotel! There is plenty of time to spend with your friend or loved one when you have the whole weekend to yourselves - made better with drinks and afternoon tea!
If there was one hotel I had to pick for exclusivity and opulence, it has to be the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. There are three major wings in the hotel - Tower, Garden and Valley (in order of extravagance). While I did fall in love with the Garden Wing where I stayed previously in a Deluxe Pool View Room, since it reminded me of a resort away from the city, the Valley Wing is on a different league of its own. According to reputable sources within the hotel, the Valley Wing was also where Barack Obama (and various other heads of state as well as celebrities) stayed during his visit to Singapore.
If you have been thinking about a subscription to The Economist, you should definitely take advantage of the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts' 5th Anniversary Special Offer which gives you 2,500 Golden Circle Points (worth US$250) with 1-year of The Economist Subscription - in Singapore this subscription will set you back S$438 but you do get back approximately S$350 (US$250) from the bonus GC Points. Shangri-La's Golden Circle program is actually pretty decent apart from its feeble upgrade policy - you do get complimentary breakfast and decent points with a mid-tier status though!
