SG50 Buffet at Park Hotel Clarke Quay

If you have been to Clarke Quay (particularly the area around Liang Court), you will probably have noticed the Park Hotel Clarke Quay at some point. The hotel which mimics a gigantic castle houses Brizo Restaurant & Bar on street level. In commemoration of Singapore's Golden Jubilee celebrations this year, Brizo Restaurant & Bar is currently running 'Taste of Singapura' seafood and local buffet between now and 30 September 2015.

Appetisers at the 'Taste of Singapura' buffet

The 'Taste of Singapura' buffet is available from Wednesdays to Sundays each week during the promotional period (01 July to 30 September 2015) and it will feature the following notable dishes:

  • Salted Egg Crayfish
  • Fish Head Curry
  • Wok-fried La-la (Clam)
  • Kam Heong Sotong (Squid in Fragrant Curry Sauce)
  • Crab done in Black Pepper or Singapore-style Chilli

I particularly like the Salted Egg Crayfish which was fresh and the firm flesh slides off the shell easily. The Wok-fried La-la is also another dish to try. If you intend on trying the Fish Head Curry, do yourself a favour and grab a crispy prata to go along with it!

Fresh Seafood at Brizo

There is also a pretty extensive range of local appetisers like Gado-Gado (Indonesian-style salad), Satay, Ngoh Hiang (five-spice minced pork roll) and Kong Bak Pau (braised pork belly in steam bun) amongst others. Of course, not seafood buffet is complete without a plateau de fruits de mer (seafood on ice). Featuring fresh Chilean scallops, flower crabs, Canadian green sea whelks, oysters, tiger prawns and salmon sashimi, Brizo offers a generous selection of seafood throughout the whole buffet line.

Baked Red Snapper in Sambal Chilli

For the health conscious, there is also a salad bar but for the rest of us, there's a decent carving station, noodle station (where you can make your own Prawn Laksa, Curry Noodles or Tom Yam Seafood) as well as the signature Baked Red Snapper in Sambal Chilli and the Roasted Angus Striploin with Pepper and Herbs Crust (rotational basis).

Finally, for a sweet ending to this dinner, local favourites like the Durian Pengat, Nonya Kueh as well as Orh Nee (Yam Paste with Ginko Nuts) can be found in the dessert section. There is also a small fridge on the side that contains mini-Magnum ice-cream (my personal choice!).
