If you have been eyeing an elite status with the oneworld airline alliance, Qantas is currently running a double status credit promotion on all eligible Qantas-operated flights between now and 16 April 2017. You do have to register for this promotion and the booking has to be completed between 28 April 2016 and 04 May 2016. All you have to do is to book before 04 May 2016 and travel before 16 April 2017 and you will be well on your way to attain elite status with the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.
If you are new to the whole airline loyalty program, do note that Status Credits are NOT Miles and this promotion does not affect your mile accrual rates.
As you can see above, obtaining Silver on the Qantas Frequent Flyer programme requires 300 Status Credits. A flexible economy flight from Singapore to Sydney (one-way) will earn you 60 status credits but with this promotion, you will be getting 120. A return flight will be 240 (instead of 120) and you will be well on your way to obtaining Silver. Remember you do also get the respective oneworld tier with the different status levels in the Qantas Frequent Flyer programme.
If you tend to travel in premium cabins, a single trip from Singapore to Sydney and on to Santiago can get you the Gold Status if you take advantage of this promotion - just remember to register here or you will not be earning double status credits!
As I was researching on some flight prices this evening, I noticed something a little different on SingaporeAir.com - apparently you are now able to earn KrisFlyer miles by booking hotels or renting cars on the website itself. In case you do not already know this, you can easily earn 10 miles per dollar when you book hotels via Kaligo.com (the prices are a little higher sometimes but if you factor in the value of miles you get, it is actually quite decent).

I wrote about the quiet opening of the Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon previously and it seems like the hotel has started to take reservations from 01 August 2017. Information about the Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon is still pretty scarce at the moment but here's what we know about the room rates and room types for now - this is Singapore's cheapest Hilton property so it is perfect for weekend mattress runs!
