With over 19 years of working history, Qantas and internationally-renowned Australia Chef Neil Perry and the Rockpool Group will bring a refreshed winter menu (01 June to 31 August 2016) to feature fresh and in-season ingredients. The Rockpool team designs both in-flight menus for the premium cabins as well as the International First, Premium and Business lounges.
With an ever-changing seasonal menu for summer, autumn, winter and spring, Qantas will also pair the new menu with wines and create monthly cocktails together with the Rockpool Group that travellers in the premium cabins (or those with status) can take advantage of!
In the First Class cabin, Qantas offers a 7-course tasting menu on A380 flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Dubai, London, Los Angeles and Dallas or Fort Worth. Notable new dishes include the following:
- Seared blue eye with shaved fennel, snow peas, lemon and olive oil
- Duck a l’orange with spaetzli and grilled broccolini
- Rockpool Bar & Grill style Noalan scotch fillet with celeriac and potato gratin
In the Business cabin, Qantas offers a 'mix and match' menu that allows travellers to pick from a menu of small and large plates. This is an alternative to the usual in-flight menu which is still available on-board as well. Notable new dishes between Singapore and Australia include:
- Baked gnocchi alla Romana with tomato and basil sugo, braised silverbeet and olives
- Lamb biryani with dhal masala and cashews
- Green curry of ling with eggplant, beans, Thai basil, fried eschalots and steamed rice
Emirates is currently running a promotion on their famous Business Class products for travels between 01 January 2018 to 30 June 2018 - booking needs to be completed before the end of 25 December 2017. Travellers will be able to experience the A380 Onboard Lounge and also enjoy complimentary chauffeur-drive services when they fly on Business Class.
A third daily flight between Singapore and Auckland will be launched from 28 October 2018 to boost capacity on this route by up to 40% - this will add more than 165,000 seats between these two cities per year. The additional service alongside a revision of current schedules will shorten the connection times as well as connectivity through the Singapore hub.
Following the devaluation of KrisFlyer Miles on Star Alliance Redemption Tickets today, KrisFlyer members are now able to redeem their KrisFlyer miles for award tickets on Star Alliance and other partners on singaporeair.com or via their mobile applicable from 07 December 2017 (which is today!). If you login to your KrisFlyer account and try to make a redemption booking, you will notice that there are three buttons located on the search results page and you will be able to sort through flights that are operated by Singapore Airlines/SilkAir, Star Alliance Airlines and Other Partner Airlines respectively.
The next time you book a flight with Singapore Airlines and SilkAir, be mindful that some of these destinations may be on the Group's low-cost subsidiary Scoot. Customers will now be able to enjoy more choice and convenience when they travel to more than 130 destinations that are served by the Singapore Airlines Group as a result of this new codeshare agreement.
Asia Pacific's best Low Cost Airline for four consecutive years, Scoot, is planning to operate four-times-weekly flights between Singapore and Berlin with the iconic Boeing 787 Dreamliners from the second half of 2018, subject to regulatory approval. The low-cost arm of Singapore Airlines will be the Group's fourth destination in Germany after Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich, which are operated by Singapore Airlines.

When I visited Beijing back in July this year, I flew back from Beijing to Singapore on Air China's Business Class - it was my very first experience with Air China and even though it was quite a good flight (albeit being delayed for 3 hours), it was very different from what you would expect on a Singapore Airlines flight. Since I visited the Air China Business Class Lounge previously and have experienced firsthand at how busy it can actually get, I made plans to check out the arguably more exclusive Air China First Class Lounge instead this time.

Since my experience at the Air China Business Class Lounge (which I checked out in July 2017) previously has been fairly lacklustre, I have decided to try the Air China First Class Lounge instead - review of this lounge soon to come! It is definitely worth nothing that while the Air China First Class Lounge is reserved to passengers traveling on Air China and Star Alliance partners in First Class only, it is also a Priority Pass Lounge - this means to say that you will be able to access this 'esteemed' lounge if you have a valid Priority Pass membership (there is no reason why you do not have one if you hold any one of these eligible credit cards which give you free lounge access).
Changi Airport's largest restaurant, SORA, is now open in Terminal 2. The 7,760 sqft (approx. 721 sqm) space is home to a Japanese Gourmet Food Hall and it houses six Japanese restaurant brands with a seating capacity of about 300 diners. SORA, which translates into 'sky' in Japanese, marks the first time that ANA Trading - the trading arm of Japanese airline company, All Nippon Airways – is operating a food hall outside of Japan.
