Hotel Review: Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach (Perada Suite) - Luxurious Hotel and Walking Distance to Seminyak Restaurants

Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach opened back in 2017 and this stunning property occupies one of the last remaining sites that offer direct beach-access. Thus, even though I am personally not heavily-invested in the IHG Rewards Club loyalty program, I was extremely excited to check out this property especially after hearing so many great reviews from my friends. To travel from Singapore to Bali, I highly recommend flying on SQ942 since you will arrive in DPS at approximately 11:55AM which is just in time for a slightly-early check-in as well as lunch.

Getting from the Ngurah Rai International Airport to the beautiful Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach will take approximately 30 minutes by car even though it is just 10-11km away. I would personally recommend arranging a private transfer with the hotel prior to arrival (especially if it is your first time visiting) but if you are looking for a bargain, you can get a really affordable (and reliable!) airport transfer on Klook for under SGD 15 one-way!

Upon arrival at the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, my luggages were taken out of the trunk before a baggage tag was handed to me. I quickly settled into one of the unique seats in the stunning lobby and one of the staff came by with a welcome drink and cold towel for me to freshen up. If you are new to Southeast Asia, you might be ridiculously-impressed with the butterfly pea flower tea since the colour changes according to the pH-levels - one of the most commonly-employed technique is to add lemon juice into this beverage to change the colour from blue to purple. I have personally seen it a couple of times and it still gets me each time (you should definitely pay attention to this if you have not seen it because it is pretty cool).

Bedroom Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

The 270-room property comes with 19 villas (2 of which are two-bedroom villas) that come with their own private plunge pool. For this at the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, my reservation was made for the lead-in suite category which is the Perada Suite. Measuring 69sqm in size, the Perada Suite is not really that much bigger than a lead-in room (which is already 50sqm in size) but it does come with a big private balcony (with daybed!) that overlooks the ocean, swimming pools and lush tropical gardens. Additionally, you will also get to enjoy a number of special amenities and perks for staying in a suite but I will touch on that in a bit. Technically, you will get to enjoy in-room check-in if you are staying in a Perada Suite but since the room was not yet ready when I arrived, I have decided to just swing by the check-in desk to grab the keycards myself.

Bedroom and Work Desk Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

The Perada Suite that I was assigned to during my stay was located on the ground floor - the good news is that I did not have to take the elevator (or stairs!) whenever I wanted to go to the pool, beach or restaurants but there were definitely drawbacks with a suite on the ground floor (mostly privacy which I will share more below). Like the rest of the property, the design of the Perada Suite is stunning - the space is inspired by one of Bali traditional cloths of the same name and it offers plenty of natural daylight from it's floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and windows.

The bed of the Perada Suite does not only look great but it feels great too! Being a relatively-new property, the air-conditioning works without a hitch (unlike the Alila Ubud which I have stayed in last year) and everything in the suite just seems to be well well taken care of. There are plenty of pillows on the bed (including two very small pillows which definitely decorative unless you have brought your pet hamster along with you) and having a well planned-out bedside control panel means being able to turn off (and on!) all the lights without having to leave your bed. There are power outlets located by the side of the bed so you can keep your devices charging while you catch up on a good night’s sleep.

Welcome Amenities Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

I received a plate of local snacks as part of my welcome amenity and I was only an IHG Rewards Club Platinum Elite member when I visited - I believe I got some welcome points as an added amenity but I do not really remember now.

Coffee Machine and Manual Juicer Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Coffee Machine and Manual Juicer

If like me, you enjoy a shot of espresso before you even head out for breakfast, you will be happy to know that there is a coffee machine located within the Perada Suite. Complimentary coffee capsules are also provided in the green metal tin next to the machine and there was even a milk steamer that I could use. One of the unique features of the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is the existence of a manual juicer in the room - you will get at least 3 oranges each day (housekeeping actually gave me more because of how quickly I went through them) if you stay in the Perada Suite. To be honest, the amount of juice that you get out of these oranges is quite little so you're better off going to SugarSand (which I love!) if you are craving for a proper glass of fresh juice.

French Press Coffee and Kevala Ceramics Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

I have always been a little obsessed with Kevala Ceramics so I was genuinely excited when I found out that the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach actually works with them to create special designs for the property. You will be able to see them across the property - in the room as well as in the restaurant. In fact, you can even purchase them from the hotel (even though they are quite pricey) if you really like them.

Walk-in Wardrobe Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Walk-in Wardrobe

The Perada Suite comes with a large walk-in wardrobe that is accessible near the entrance of the suite as well as the bathroom - this means to say that you can easily take a shower, get dressed, before popping-out on the other end of the corridor. There is also plenty of space to hang your clothes here in the open wardrobe so even if you are staying in this suite for a couple of weeks, you should be good with space (even though you will probably have to request for a lot more hangers). Hotel guests staying in the Perada Suite will also find two sling bags (which resemble fish traps) which are perfect for the beach - within them, you will find clean towels as well as a sunblock which you can take along with you.

Bathroom Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

The bathroom of the Perada Suite here at Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is pretty narrow but it spans across the side of the room - the bathroom is located on one end while the bathtub is located on the other side. If you are sharing this room with your partner or a friend, having two sinks make all the difference in the morning and the evening before bed. The area in between the bathtub and the sinks is where you will find the rainshower - do note that you will definitely have to draw the roller blinds if you are planning on taking a shower since you are on the ground floor.

Seating Area in Balcony Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

The Perada Suite features an extra-large balcony with a daybed on the side. While being on the ground floor translates into easier access to the restaurants and pool (so long you are willing to leave the sliding door into your bedroom unlocked), people walking past your room from the outside can easily look in as well. While this is not exactly a big deal in the balcony, it does matter when you are taking a shower or enjoying a soak in that semi-open space tub.

Outdoor Bathtub Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Outdoor Bathtub

Even though I do enjoy a good soak, I did find myself using the bathtub a lot lesser than usual in my Perada Suite. The reason for this is simple - people dining in the restaurant or walking past your room can quite easily look in. While the plants outside and the angular architecture of the building does help to block out unwanted gazes, I did find the idea of enjoying a soak in the daytime rather daunting. You might also notice that while there is blind that you can lower to separate the balcony from the bath area, it still feels rather exposed which is quite a waste in my opinion (since the tub is beautiful and I would have loved to spend more time outside).

Spa Amenities Perada Suite - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Guests staying in a Perada Suite at the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach will find some additional bath salts as well as a special bag of goodies here by the tub. Inside that cloth bag is where you will find a body scrub as well as a fruity massage oil which is great for relieving the stress off those sore muscles after a day out at the beach. Bath amenities here are also provided in little plastic bottles that are ‘Sava’ branded - I am not too familiar with it personally but I do believe it is an in-house brand.

Swimming Pool Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Swimming Pool

One of the reasons you should stay at the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is the massive swimming pool that overlooks the ocean. There are plenty of sun loungers located by the side of the pool and if you are trying to avoid the sun (seriously, what are you doing in Bali though?!), there are even sheltered areas overlooking the beautiful swimming pool that you can walk up to. On one end of the pool is where you will find a Jacuzzi area and this is seriously the best spot to be when the sun is out. Located next to the main swimming pool is the Cave Pool Lounge where you will be able to order up special cocktails, beverages and light bites (including homemade rolled ice creams).

Tree Bar Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Tree Bar
Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Guests staying at the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach with a breakfast-inclusive rate may choose to enjoy it at either the all-day dining restaurant, Makase, or the beach club located out front (by the beach), SugarSand. Located directly in front of Makase (and my bedroom) is the Tree Bar which is technically not open during the morning but guests who would like an al fresco seating area may enjoy their breakfast here instead - you’ll still have to go in to Makase to grab your food but this is a much nicer (and quieter) area!

Buffet Breakfast Makase - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Buffet Breakfast
Makase - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Makase at the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach offers a fairly inspiring buffet breakfast selection and I have found the egg dishes to be done really well here. I also like that the coffee cups here in the restaurants are from Kevala Ceramics and having to fight the temptation to buy everything was definitely difficult for me.

No breakfast in Bali is complete without a generous selection of fresh fruits and the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach definitely checks all the right boxes - the fresh juices and made-to-order waffles were also delicious but if you had to pick one breakfast venue, SugarSand is definitely the way to go (especially if you prefer quality over quantity).

Restaurant Interiors SugarSand - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

As mentioned earlier, SugarSand is technically located outside of the hotel but there is a side gate that will take you there directly - this is also where you’ll be exiting the property from if you would like to visit the beach. Much like an independent beachside bar and restaurant, SugarSand is actually managed by the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach which means you will get to enjoy your IHG Rewards Club F&B discount of up to 15% here and pick up some additional points along the way (obviously, you will also be able to charge the bill to your room if you are an in-house guest).

A La Carte Breakfast SugarSand - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

A La Carte Breakfast
SugarSand - Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach

Unlike Makase, SugarSand offers an a la carte breakfast menu that hotel guests can order from - think about unlimited pitaya bowls, eggs and that delicious Chifa Fried Rice! Honestly, there is nothing more satisfying that enjoying a healthy (and tasty!) meal in the morning while overlooking the ocean.

I was so impressed with the quality of food that I actually returned to the restaurant (partially because I could book it on Chope) for lunch and dinner. The service over at SugarSand may be casual but it is friendly, efficient and sincere. Mains typically range from IDR 100,000++ to IDR 180,000++ which is very reasonable since this is a restaurant operated by a hotel and it even comes with a private dipping pool for diners. You should definitely check SugarSand out for lunch even if you are not staying at the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach.

Having been to two other Hotel Indigo properties in Bangkok and in Singapore, I dare say that this was easily my favourite property amongst all three. The design of the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is stunning, the location is great (you can walk to the famous Sisterfields Cafe if you wanted to) and the food within the property is not only delicious but highly affordable as well. I really enjoyed the Perada Suite that I have stayed in but it goes without saying that getting one on a higher floor would make a lot of difference since you will get to enjoy a better view and more importantly, a great sense of privacy when taking a soak outside. If you have The Platinum Card from American Express, it is certainly worth noting that the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is part of The Hotel Collection which means you will get to enjoy exclusive benefits (e.g. USD 100 property credit) when you stay at least two nights here under The Hotel Collection rate.
