Hotel Review: Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei (Horizon Club Premier Room)

Taipei is slightly over four hours away from Singapore by plane and it offers some of the most delicious food and nicest people that I have ever met in my life. When I visited Taipei in April 2017, I caught flight BR226 from Singapore and I was seriously impressed by the Royal Laurel product on EVA Air - the seats on the 777-300ER were extremely spacious and personalisation of service is truly something to remember. I was also excited to check out the tallest hotel in Taipei city - the Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei which is famous for having the best view of Taipei 101 and the surrounding city.

Hotel Review: Grand Hyatt Taipei (Grand Suite) - Luxurious Hotel next to Taipei 101

The Grand Hyatt Taipei is one of my favourite hotels and in my opinion, it is one of the best luxury hotels in Taipei. When I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Taipei in 2015, I stayed in a Grand Deluxe Room with an impressive view of the iconic Taipei 101. The presence of international hotel chains in Taipei is rather limited - you will not find anything from Hilton, Accor or IHG in the city and because of that (and other reasons), room rates at internationally-branded hotel chains can be rather costly. Check out my stay in a Grand Suite of the Grand Hyatt Taipei!

Hotel Review: Just Sleep Linsen (Superior Twin Room)

During my last trip to Taipei, I stayed at the allegedly haunted Grand Hyatt Taipei and the ultra-luxurious Mandarin Oriental, Taipei. Travellers who have been to Taipei will know that the city only has a handful of international luxury hotel brands and as a result of that, the prices are often very high (the average rate is approximately twice of what you will expect to pay in Singapore at a similar property). Between my two luxurious accommodations, I stayed in a budget friendly boutique hotel that is expanding all over Taiwan (even outside of Taipei!) - Just Sleep Linsen.

Hotel Review: Mandarin Oriental, Taipei

The Mandarin Oriental, Taipei is the most luxurious hotel in Taipei. After having stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore multiple times, I have fallen in love with the brand that epitomises the legendary service that is well-known for. The Mandarin Oriental, Taipei is located within Taipei's most established business district (Dunhua North Road) and it is famous for the lush canopy of trees in the vicinity. Check out my stay in the Club Deluxe Room at this opulent property.

Hotel Review: Grand Hyatt Taipei

I have been to Taipei many times (even before I started writing) and I love the city for the delicious street food, orderliness and friendly people. In fact, I am writing a whole series of food articles around Taipei that you should definitely check out! There is no lack of boutique and affordable hotels around Taipei but if you are looking for an international brand, I may very well have stumbled upon the best one in this beautiful city - the Grand Hyatt Taipei.
