An Analysis of my IHG Accelerate Offer - 55,000 Bonus Points
IHG has been having a bunch of Accelerate (or equivalent) promotions over the last couple of quarters and in case you do not already know, you can now register for your very own personalised set of offers for stays next year (01 January 2016 to 30 April 2016).
After holding Platinum Elite status in 2014 and not qualifying for anything else in 2015, I am presented with the following offer for Accelerate 2016 (January to April) - do note that I have not had a paid stay in 2015 (only reward stays):
Looking at my set of promotions, I need a minimum of FIVE paid nights to earn the full 55,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club Points. To take advantage of the offer partially, I can also choose to stay TWICE at a Holiday Day Inn Express for 17,600 bonus IHG Rewards Club Points. It's not too bad but let's take a look at how much do I have to spend.
As of this moment, there are two Holiday Inn Express hotels in Singapore (although one more is slated to open in Katong in the near future). The cheaper property between these two existing properties is the Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay which I have stayed on multiple occasions.
Option 1: Earn 15,600 bonus IHG Rewards Club Points for S$334.40++
(Two Nights | Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay | IHG® Rewards Club Advance Rate)
In Option 1, 1,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club Points will cost me S$25.23 (calculations are done after including applicable service tax and GST).
Option 2: Earn 17,600 (+2,000) bonus IHG Rewards Club Points for S$372.20++
(Two Nights | Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay | IHG® Rewards Club Advance Rate + Bonus Points Package)
In Option 2, 1,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club Points will cost me S$22.35 (calculations are done after including applicable service tax and GST).
Option 3: Earn 55,000 (+2,000) bonus IHG Rewards Club Points for S$825.35++
(Two Nights | Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay | IHG® Rewards Club Advance Rate + Bonus Points Package) and (Three Nights | Holiday Inn: Singapore Atrium | IHG® Rewards Club Advance Rate)
In Option 3, 1,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club Points will cost me S$17.05 (calculations are done after including applicable service tax and GST).
For a cost per block of 1,000 IHG Rewards Club Points POV, the best option has to be Option 3 since 1,000 bonus points will only cost me S$17.05. However, since I do not have elite status with IHG as of this moment, I do not know whether I will take part and commit five weekend nights to IHG in the first quarter. Option 2 will probably be the most feasible option for me at this moment.
