I recently traveled down to Cebu in Philippines over the weekend and since there are no Star Alliance flights that operate between Singapore and Cebu, I did not have any lounge access for the trip. Therefore, I decided to make use of the opportunity to check out the relatively new Plaza Premium Lounge in Singapore Changi Airport which I heard was beautiful.
The Plaza Premium Lounge in Singapore Changi Airport is located in Terminal 1 of the Departures area and it is fairly easy to get around the different terminals (even if your flight is departing from another terminal!) on the SkyTrain - you may also choose to walk but who are we kidding. Travellers who do not part of any lounge memberships may choose to pay for lounge use - at the time of writing, a 5-hour usage will cost S$58 and a 10-hour usage will cost S$105. If like me you have a Priority Pass membership from one of the credit cards issued in Singapore, you will be able to utilise your free visit here.
The Plaza Premium Lounge here in Terminal 1 is almost 650 sqm and which it does offer up to 140 seats in total, it does not feel cramped at all. In fact, I found the lounge to be really spacious and the overall design with warm earth tones is a refreshing change from the typical airport lounge that I have visited over the last year.
I love how there were different seating configurations that cater to different groups of travellers - the single seat for the business traveller (or solo travellers like me) and the semi-partitioned ones for people to do some quiet reading or god-forbid, work. More interestingly, there are these signature Honeycomb seating that provide the space and privacy you need even if you just intend to rest before the flight ahead.
Since my flight was pretty early in the morning, the food selection was limited to breakfast items only - I did hear much about the lunch spread which includes Laksa, Chicken Rice and even Temakis. Since I was there pretty early before my flight out of Singapore to Cebu, the breakfast selection consisted of congee, fried noodles, sausages and some other light bites (e.g. sandwiches). Coffee, tea and other non-alcoholic beverages are also available at the lounge but I do believe anything alcoholic is chargeable though.
The Plaza Premium Lounge here at Terminal 1 of the Singapore Changi Airport also offers three private resting suites (at an additional charge) as well as six shower rooms for travellers to freshen before or after a flight. There are also two VIP rooms, massage and nail care services as well as plenty of charging stations (there's one next to every seat!) for all your power hungry devices.
