Oneworld Press Conference to Announce First Full Member Airline Recruit on 05 December - Could It Be Alaska Airlines?
The aviation industry is abuzz with news about a 'first full member airline recruit' for Oneworld - the scheduled press conference is confirmed in New York for 05 December 2018 and there is a possibility that Alaska Airlines may become a part of this alliance. This speculation was first spotted on Skift and it will become the alliance's second 'Oneworld Connect' member (apart from Fiji Airways) if the rumours are indeed true.
I am a huge fan of the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program and I have redeemed a handful of Business Class tickets on Japan Airlines since May 2016 when the 'trick' was still relatively unknown. Ever since Emirates has announced the equipment change for the SIN-MEL route, I have also switched most of my revenue tickets in Business Class to Qantas and will continue to do so as long as it remains a partner in the Mileage Plan program. Even though I am based in Singapore, MVP Gold status in the program offers incredible benefits (including the ability to earn 100% more base miles) for a traveller in this region.
