IHG One Rewards Anniversary Offer: 3X Points (Up to 20,000 Bonus Points) Over 90 Days - Targeted Offer

IHG One Rewards has just sent me a targeted offer for 3X points on all qualifying stays within 90 days from the date of promotion registration. According to the terms and conditions of the promotion, this offer is sent out to IHG One Rewards members who have been with the program for 10 and 15 years.

While I personally do not value IHG One Rewards Points much (since they somehow fluctuate with the cash rate of the property, and therefore function like a glorified cashback system), I would not turn down the offer to earn triple points on all eligible IHG stays over the next 90 days. Do remember that most, if not all of these IHG One Rewards promotions require a minimum room rate of USD 30 per night (before taxes) in order for them to be qualifying. While reward nights using IHG One Rewards Points do count towards qualifying nights in attaining or retaining a membership tier in the IHG One Rewards program, they do not typically trigger any targeted or global promotion bonuses.

A maximum of 20,000 bonus bonus can be earned during the 90-day period for this promotion so that works out to USD 2,000 of base spend before any elite bonuses. IHG One Rewards is an interesting program as you can opt for an Annual Lounge Membership with just 40 nights via the Milestone Rewards program but if have gotten your elite status via a status match or fast track, you may find yourself on the shorter end of the stick.

  • For this “Anniversary Offer – 10 & 15 Year” (“Offer”), you must be an IHG One Rewards member and be invited to participate in the Offer. After receiving an invitation, you must register your member number in advance to participate in the Offer. Once registered, you can earn “3X points” per stay, up to a maximum of 20,000 IHG One Rewards bonus points, on Qualifying Stays during the 90-day period following registration. A Qualifying Stay may be at any participating IHG® Hotels & Resorts brand, Mr & Mrs Smith properties or participating Six Senses® Hotels, Resorts & Spas (as identified on each hotel’s booking page). To be eligible for the “3X points” for a qualifying stay, the entire stay must fall within the 90-day period immediately following the date you registered for the Offer. A maximum of 20,000 bonus points can be achieved during the 90-day period. The time needed for awarding points can vary with each offer, so please allow up to 6 weeks for the bonus points to be posted to your account.

    A Qualifying Stay is defined as a minimum 1-night stay booked under a Qualifying Rate, with total spend exceeding $30 USD (or local equivalent) per night. If a member books more than one room on the same night, they will only receive bonus points for the Offer on the room with the higher room rate for each such qualifying night. If more than one member checks into the same room, only one member who received an invitation and registered for the Offer is eligible to claim the qualifying night for purposes of the Offer.     For purposes of this Offer, earning “3X” or “3X points” or “three times the points” or “triple points” on a qualifying stay during the promotion period means the total number of regular “base points” and promotional “bonus points” combined will equal three (3) times the base points the member would normally receive just for being an IHG One Rewards member. For example, under the Offer, for a one-night Qualifying Stay with a room rate of $100.00 at an IHG hotel with a 10 points per USD earn rate for base points, the member would earn 1,000 base points (10 points x $100 = 1,000 points) and an additional 2,000 promotional bonus points, for a total of 3,000 points. The promotional bonus points under this Offer are calculated based solely on the base points the member is eligible to earn for a Qualifying Stay just for being an IHG One Rewards member, and any Elite status bonus points or any other bonus or promotional points the member may be eligible to receive for the same stay are not included for purposes of this calculation.

    The invitation to participate in this Offer applies to the original recipient only and cannot be transferred. Points awarded through this Offer are not Elite status qualifying. The points earned during the Offer can be used towards Reward Nights, can be redeemed for merchandise or can be used for other redemption opportunities, as permitted under the IHG One Rewards programme.
