With the 25% bonus, each Hyatt point works out to just 1.92 US cents which is a good deal, but the lowest we have seen in the last 12 months is 1.8 US cents each. As a quick reminder, the number of required points per night depends on the category of the property, as well as whether the date has been determined as peak period:
For a Category 1 property like the Alila Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur, a free night on points will require either 3,500 points (off-peak), 5,000 points (standard), or 6,500 points (peak). This means that you can stay at the property for as little as USD 67.20 per night if you were to purchase World of Hyatt Points at 1.92 US cents each right now. Points are typically best used as aspirational (and expensive) properties like the Park Hyatt Kyoto (Category 8) where you can pay only USD 672 per night (which is the cost of purchasing 35,000 points right now) as compared to ¥247,410 (USD 1,840).
The award category chart was updated early this year and some properties now require fewer points to stay - this may be an opportunity for you to save on future stays so be sure to check that out.
TRIBE Living Bangkok Sukhumvit 39 is a great value choice for budget-conscious travelers but its slightly longer walk from Phrom Phong BTS Station may make it less convenient compared to more accessible (but pricier) options in the area.
