You may purchase Marriott Bonvoy Points for your own account or gift them to an eligible Marriott Bonvoy member but do note that the account has to be open for a minimum of 90 days (so you should sign-up for a free account now if you do not already have one), or 30 days if any qualifying activity has been recorded on the account. Do note that the maximum bonus for this promotional campaign is 40% but this is staggered based on the number of points purchased:
30% bonus when you buy 2,000–9,000 points (0.96 US cent per point)
35% bonus when you buy 10,000–39,000 points (0.93 US cent per point)
40% bonus when you buy 40,000–100,000 points (0.89 US cent per point)
In order to receive the maximum bonus (40%) for point purchases, you will have to purchase at least 40,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points - this works out to 0.89 US cent per point. The maximum number of points a member can purchase in a calendar year is 100,000 and therefore if you wish to max out your limit with this promotion, you will be able to purchase 100,000 (and receive 140,000) points for USD 1,250. Depending on what your travel plans are, you should decide whether or not this is a good time to purchase Marriott Bonvoy Points as 40% is not the highest bonus we have seen in recent years - there is no telling whether there will be a better offer coming up but 0.89 US cent per point is not a terrible price. Personally, I have been able to extract up to 1.72 US cents per point at the Le Méridien Saigon with the Stay for 5, Pay for 4 benefit.
Even on single-night stays closer to home, it is possible to get pretty good value out of properties like The Westin Singapore where a room night might cost SGD 485++ (SGD 576.18 after tax) per night but only requires 32,000 points (which can be purchased for USD 284.80 or SGD 384.27) on redemption. In The Westin Singapore example, each point is worth approximately 1.33 US cents, which offers 50% more value than the price that has been purchased.
Do note that the 40% bonus offer on Marriott Bonvoy Point purchases runs from 10 August 2023, 9:00 AM ET to 8 September 2023, 11:59 PM ET. For readers in Singapore, the sale will end on 9 September 2023 at 11:59 AM Singapore time (GMT +8) and you may consider purchasing these points using a Citi Rewards Card or the UOB Visa Signature Card to earn up to 4 miles per dollar.
Planning a beach day can seem simple, but unexpected issues often arise. Mornington Peninsula’s beaches are popular, which means dealing with potential crowds, fluctuating weather, and poor preparation can easily ruin your outing. Arriving late might lead to parking challenges, and picking the wrong beach can limit your planned activities. Many forget important items that could make or break their beach experience, leading to stress and missed opportunities for relaxation.
