Hotel Review: ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park (Standard Room) - Property Near Chan Sow Lin Station Suitable for Mattress Runs
In case you are not familiar with the concept of a mattress run, it is basically to book (and pay) for a hotel room that you do not necessarily need in order to either earn nights and points or to reap a benefit from a hotel loyalty program. A few months ago, I had approximately 14,000 ALL Rewards Points (worth €280) expire due to inactivity on my account - one of the account regularisation transactions that was posted on my account turned out to be non-qualifying so there was a little bit of confusion. After reaching out to the support team, I was informed that my points would be reinstated if I were to complete a qualifying stay within 3 months. Since I had plans to be in Kuala Lumpur, I decided to book a stay at the ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park (since it was the cheapest Accor property I could find) to have my expired points reinstated.

I do not typically stay with Accor properties but I do have ALL Silver Status from my Accor Plus membership. Even though ALL Silver members do not enjoy complimentary upgrades, the ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park only has one category of room with two different bedding configurations. Located just a short stroll from Chan Sow Lin station, the ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park can be easily accessed via the LRT and MRT - there is a sheltered walkway to the hotel and it takes approximately eight minutes but most of the shops along the way were shuttered during my visit.
I would not recommend the ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park as a place to stay for leisure or for work - this stay was booked for the purpose of a mattress run only. With all that being said, the check-in process was actually pretty painless and I was even given a welcome drink voucher which is valid for two drinks at the Streats Bar from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Since this stay was actually consumed back in March 2023, I am not sure whether normal hours have resumed and whether or not the drink vouchers are valid outside of the aforementioned timings.
The corridors were dimly-lit and while I did not have any trouble locating my room, it was definitely not a pleasant experience. The Standard Rooms here at the ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park measure approximately 24sqm in size and it comes with either a Queen-size Bed or Two Single Bed - a daybed can also be arranged for a third occupant (for an additional charge). Honestly, the rooms do not look too shabby at first glance but the level of cleanliness is a little bit questionable. I noticed weird stains on the bedsheets and dubious markings on flat surfaces during my short 30-minute stay.
The room that I was assigned to at the ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park also came with a connecting door which is great for those traveling with families or friends, but as I have mentioned earlier, there is really no reason to pick this property unless you are on a tight budget, or would like to complete a mattress run for some purpose. There room has a small TV mounted on the wall with limited channels so be sure to bring your own entertainment if you are staying here.
There is an electric kettle in the room, alongside some complimentary teabags, freeze-dried coffee sachets, and drinking water. There is also a huge sign behind that tells you not to boil your clothes or use the water kettle to heat up food - something I have never actually considered.
While the ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park may not be on anyone’s list of places to stay at, I do appreciate that the rooms come with a couch by the window - these are always great for during the day when you wish to relax but do not want to dirty the bed. The room is definitely functional, and since it is located in a pretty quiet area of the town, you do not get much noise from the streets. However, the soundproofing in the room is not exactly ideal so you can actually hear people walking past your room outside and potentially even your neighbours if you have a connecting room like mine.
The most famous restaurant around the ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park is probably Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice which is cooked over a charcoal fire in a claypot to impart some of that smokiness into the dish. From my understand of the area, there is also a small convenience store nearby (within walking distance) but other than that, there really isn’t much to do if you are here on leisure.
The bathrooms in the ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park are also pretty basic with a small sink and some personal hygiene amenities. I obviously did not stay the night here at the property but the bathroom was giving me all kinds of weird vibes.
The shower area was pretty spacious but only a standing shower was provided - no rainshower head or bathtub here as you would expect.
The ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park is a great hotel for a mattress run - especially since it is connected to Chan Sow Lin station. If you have an Accor Plus membership, you might already know that 20 status nights are now awarded upon membership renewal and you only need 10 more nights to hit ALL Gold status (which allows you to enjoy upgrades at full-service properties). Existing Accor Plus members who are renewing their membership between 01 August 2023 and 31 December 2023 will also receive an additional bonus of 20 Status Nights this year.

TRIBE Living Bangkok Sukhumvit 39 is a great value choice for budget-conscious travelers but its slightly longer walk from Phrom Phong BTS Station may make it less convenient compared to more accessible (but pricier) options in the area.
