Cathay Pacific Reopens The Bridge Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA)
Cathay Pacific has officially reopened its beloved lounge, The Bridge, at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) as of 7 May 2025. Located near Gate 35 in Terminal 1, this 2,707-square-metre lounge offers a refreshed, residential-inspired design and enhanced amenities, marking a significant milestone in the airline's lounge enhancement plan.

The Bridge's new design embodies Cathay Pacific's commitment to human-centric spaces. The lounge features bespoke Solo Chairs, cherry wood-framed screens, curated artwork, and a soothing ambiance created by carefully selected lighting and materials. Soon, it will be the first Cathay Pacific lounge to implement biometric check-in, streamlining the entry process for guests.

The lounge is divided into two distinct areas:
Left Side (South Wing): Offers Chinese culinary favourites, including the iconic Noodle Bar serving signature dishes like wonton and dan dan noodles. The Nook, a new concept, provides regional small plates such as savoury bao, scallion pancakes, and rice rolls.
Right Side (North Wing): Features international cuisine at the Food Hall, with oven-to-plate dishes like beef bourguignon and Provencal vegetable bakes. This wing also houses a dedicated area for First Class passengers and Cathay Diamond members, offering a curated selection of champagnes and wines.

One of the biggest upgrades at The Bridge lies in its diverse culinary offerings, ranging from fan favourites to brand-new concepts:
The Noodle Bar: An enduring classic, serving regional dishes like dan dan noodles, wonton noodles, and rotating selections of dim sum and biangbiang mian.
The Nook (百味坊): A brand-new concept, this area presents Chinese regional small plates, including savoury bao, scallion pancakes, and steamed rice rolls — all made-to-order.
The Food Hall: A Western-style space featuring oven-to-plate dishes such as beef bourguignon, Provencal vegetable bakes, fresh salads, pastries, and desserts.
The Bar: Pouring barista-made coffees, wines, and bespoke cocktails, all accompanied by panoramic apron views — a longtime favourite spot for avgeeks and lounge lovers alike.

The Bridge accommodates over 520 guests and includes nine private shower suites, providing comfort for travelers. Access is granted to First and Business Class passengers, Cathay Silver members and above, oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members, and eligible guests with lounge passes. In a notable policy shift, The Bridge now includes a dedicated section exclusively for Cathay Pacific First Class passengers and Cathay Diamond members. This First Class enclave features seat-side Champagne service, plush furnishings, and abundant natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows. Interestingly, Oneworld Emerald members (not flying First Class or without Cathay Diamond status) will be excluded from this space — a change that has already stirred discussion among frequent flyers. That said, The Deck will temporarily serve as a First Class lounge during The Wing’s closure, offering an alternative for affected guests.

The reopening of The Bridge aligns with the temporary closure of The Wing, Cathay Pacific's flagship lounge, which begins renovations on 23 May 2025. During this period, The Deck will serve as an interim First Class lounge, ensuring continued premium services for travelers. As part of an investment program worth HK$100 billion, Cathay Pacific plans to launch new flagship lounges in Hong Kong, Beijing, and New York over the next two years, enhancing the travel experience for its customers.
Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit 1 offers a fresh, modern stay in a quieter pocket of Sukhumvit. While the rooms are spacious and the pool area is a standout with a staffed bar and happy hour deals, the property is let down by poor noise isolation, a lack of universal power outlets, and basic dining options.
