Champagne Brunch (Cut Catch Cucina) - Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua

Bustling with energy and vitality, the less than one-year old Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua has already made a name for herself in being the go-to destination in Bali. A lavish five-star luxury beach resort housing the internationally-acclaimed luxury beach club, Nikki Beach Bali, the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua is the place to go to for an ultimate indulgence.

While I chose to stay in the quieter stretch of Nusa Dua in Conrad Bali Suites along Tanjung Benoa, I dropped by Cut Catch Cucina (with a reservation of course) located inside of Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua for the famous Sunday Champagne Brunch. Combining the best elements of a steakhouse, seafood grill and an Italian Osteria, the Cut Catch Cucina has been recommended by many travelers as the best Champagne Brunch spot in Bali!

Choose between a non-alcoholic brunch package which comes with free flow soft drinks, iced tea and mocktails from just IDR 399,000++ or go all out and splurge on the Premium Brunch Package (IDR 1,299,000++) which comes free flow champagne, imported red and white wine, international beers, cocktails and everything else that the non-alcoholic brunch package comes with. Otherwise, go with my recommendation - the Alcohol Brunch Package (IDR 599,000++) offers incredible value with the following inclusions: free flow sparkling wine, house red and white wine, Bintang beer and cocktails.

The Sunday Champagne Brunch at Cut Catch Cucina is a lavish buffet that also comes with an impressive a la carte menu - all of these dishes are beautifully portioned and plated! Indulge in Italian favourites, crisp salads, sushi and sashimi, beautiful roasts, meats and a selection of fresh seafood.

Eggs Benedict, Champagne Ham, Smoked Salmon

Eggs Benedict, Champagne Ham, Smoked Salmon

Since I have been saving my stomach space to fully appreciate the dining experience here, I started off with an Eggs Benedict with Champagne Ham and Smoked Salmon from the a la carte menu - these are included in the brunch! The eggs were beautifully poached with very runny egg yolks!

Poached Duck Egg, Asparagus, Cured Ham, Mustard Truffle Dressing

The poached duck egg is definitely one that you should try as well. I personally think that the ham is rather ordinary but the execution and presentation of these a la carte dishes are amazing. Coupled with the fact that you are actually at a buffet, the intricate plating of these dishes truly left me wanting for more.

Amuse-bouche

Amuse-bouche

Half-way through waiting for my a la carte dishes to arrive (remember they are made to order so they will take a while), I was offered an amuse-bouche that I do not necessarily remember what it consisted of already. The endless flow of red wine did not help me remember either. That being said, I was not impressed by this dish at all - so save your stomach for everything else! In case you are wondering, the friendly staff at Cut Catch Cucina will also bring around pizzas that you can't say no to.

Scallop Pan Seared, Glazed Potato Sandwich, Bok Choy, Truffle Jus

Scallop Pan Seared, Glazed Potato Sandwich, Bok Choy, Truffle Jus

The Pan Seared Scallops with a Glazed Potato Sandwich, Bok Choy and Truffle Jus is one that I will highly recommend you to order. The natural sweetness of the beautifully cooked scallops is further augmented by the trufle jus. The bok choy provided texture and freshness to the overall dish which truly gelled the different elements together.

250-Day Grain-fed Beef Cube Roll, Asparagus, Fried Duck Egg, Bearnaise Sauce

250-Day Grain-fed Beef Cube Roll, Asparagus, Fried Duck Egg, Bearnaise Sauce

The bearnaise sauce was delightful but the beef was slightly cooked-through to my liking. My advice? If you like your beef medium rare, go for the beef steaks at the buffet instead - just remember to tell the chef how you would like it done.

Foie Gras Pan Seared, Spiced "Gula Jawa" Crumble, Mango Two Ways

Rich and smooth Foie Gras with a Gula Jawa (palm sugar) crumble. This dish plays with both Eastern and Western flavours with a deconstructed look.

Sous Vide Lobster, Asian Arancini, Coriander Dust, Red Curry Sauce

The Sous Vide Lobster and the Coriander Dust went amazingly well together. I really like how a little spice from the Red Curry Sauce provided the extra kick and flavours to this dish.

I really enjoyed the seafood stew from the Italian section in Cut Catch Cucina. While it can be slightly salty for some, the natural sweetness of the seafood helped to balance the flavours in this dish.

Alas, a Sunday Champagne Brunch is never complete without lots of fresh seafood. The plateau de fruits de mer presentation here works well by showing abundance, creating an overall impression of indulgence. Choose from fresh crabs, cray fish, huge river prawns, oysters, mussels and many more!

If you prefer the seafood to be cooked, just let one of the friendly chefs know and they will get it done. In fact, you won't even have to wait there! Just go back to your table and your food will be magically brought to you in a bit.

In case you get tired of the alcohol, go try the amazing iced tea - this is the best thing ever! In fact, I made a beeline for the iced tea the moment I stepped into Cut Catch Cucina as it was sweltering hot out there.

Pear Poached Galette, Caramelized White Chocolate, Green Tea Ice Cream

Pear Poached Galette, Caramelized White Chocolate, Green Tea Ice Cream

There were four dessert items on the a la carte menu when I visited although YMMV. The poached pears were a really nice ending to an over-indulging meal.

Chocolate Fondant, Nougat Biscuit, Toffee Sauce, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

The chocolate fondant was rich and did not execute its signature flow well. Besides, after all that feasting, the last thing I really want is a heavy dessert to weigh it all down.

In case you're not a guest of the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua, you will get to enjoy the beautiful pool when you enjoy the Sunday Brunch at Cut Catch Cucina! Beautiful people in a beautiful pool and a beautiful weather - can this day get any better?

All in all the Sunday Brunch at Cut Catch Cucina in Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua was amazing and I will definitely be back the next time I stay in Nusa Dua - should not be too long now. Start from just IDR 399,000++, this dining experience is definitely one not to be missed. If you are crave for a little bit of action while staying along Nusa Dua, hop on a taxi and make your way down here. You will not regret it!
