Complete List of New Hotel Openings in Singapore (2016)

There are no lack of hotels in Singapore that will cater to different groups of travellers with a contrasting budget. That being said, new hotels are still opening up all across the Lion City. With some curiosity and a little sleep sacrifice, I have put together a list of 11 (and growing, hopefully!) hotels that will be opening in Singapore this year (2016):

1. The Patina, Capitol Singapore - Q2 2016
15 Stamford Rd, Singapore 178906

Update: The Patina, Capitol Singapore's opening has been delayed until Q2, 2016

The Patina, Capitol Singapore will probably be opening the earliest. Housed in a Colonial-style building in City Hall, the luxurious hotel is designed in a colonial style to bring about an air of opulence. Located just minutes away from the City Hall MRT Station, The Patina, Capitol Singapore will also come with complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, iPads and Nespresso Machines for your personal enjoyment. There will also be an outdoor salt water pool where hotel guests will be able to soak their weariness and trouble away. We hear Personal Assistants and even Massage Rooms are available in some of the suites!

The country's very first ibis Styles property will be opening on the corner of MacPherson and Aljunied Road and it is expected to enhance the newest development project in MacPherson. Featuring a colourful and funky design theme with a magnificent free-form swimming pool on the fourth floor, hotel guests will be able to enjoy the facilities amidst the resort-like setting while being steps away from the exciting new MacPherson shopping mall.

First announced in 2014, the Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong is finally opening and reservations can be made from June 2016. Every Hotel Indigo property is designed to reflect the local neighbourhood. From the building design, to the hotel’s artwork and locally-inspired menus, each Hotel Indigo is unique to its surroundings, so no two hotels are the same. In addition, guests can look forward to immersing in stories of the neighbourhood through creatively crafted spaces reflecting the area's vibrant heritage – a key cornerstone of the brand.

5. Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong - June 2016
88 East Coast Road, Singapore 423371

InterContinental Hotels Group's third Holiday Inn Express property in Singapore is going to be the cheapest of them all. The 451-room Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong will cater to the value-conscious traveller while still providing all the necessities required for an enjoyable stay in Singapore. This is also great news for us mattress-runners who are interested in clocking up points and/or elite status.

8. InterContinental Robertson Quay - 2016
Havelock Rd, Singapore 238188

Singapore's second InterContinental Hotel, the InterContinental Robertson Quay is my most anticipated hotel this year. Having been to the current InterContinental Singapore multiple times (pre and post refurbishment), I would be very interested to know how this one would turn out. InterContinental Robertson Quay will have a contemporary design featuring modern rooms offering views of the Singapore River and city skyline. The ground floor will house the hotel’s arrival lobby, concierge services and the hotel’s flagship restaurant. The hotel reception will be on level four, which will also have meetings rooms, function space, club lounge, a swimming pool and bar.

9. Park Hotel Farrer Park - 2016
10 Farrer Park Station Road Singapore 217564

Located on top of the Farrer Park MRT Station, Park Hotel Farrer Park is Park Hotel Group's fifth property in Singapore. The hotel is located in the vibrant shopping and entertainment district of Little India with the famous 24-hour Mustafa Centre, Tekka Centre, and The Verge, all located within walking distance. For convenience, the new hotel will also be connected through an underground pedestrian walkway to City Square Mall, Singapore’s first eco-mall.

10. M Social Singapore - Q2 2016
90 Robertson Quay, Singapore 238259

Update: M Social Singapore's opening has been scheduled for Q2 2016.

While I am generally not a huge fan of the Millennium Hotels and Resorts brand due to its lacklustre loyalty program and the lack of global footprint, the M Social Singapore is one that I am anticipating. This 293-room design hotel will overlook the vibrant Robertson Quay precinct that is home to a variety of dining and entertainment options. M Social Singapore promises to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for the style-conscious travellers with its boutique and latest technological offerings; while offering tastefully furnished snug rooms designed by the renowned Philippe Starck.
