Bali to Reopen in Three Phases - International Visitors Can Visit From 11 September 2020

While the confirmed number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia continues to climb, the numbers have been kept comparatively low on the island of Bali. Back in May, I wrote about the possibility of reopening in July and according to Bali's Governor, Indonesia's most popular holiday destination will reopen to international visitors on 11 September 2020.

Bali will embark on its three-phrase reopening on 09 July 2020 for the locals first, before allowing domestic tourists (from other parts of Indonesia) to visit from 31 July 2020. Finally, international visitors will be allowed to visit the Island of Gods from 11 September 2020. Hotels, restaurants, tourist spots as well as other attractions will open progressively as tourism resumes.

Visitors from Australia make up a large proportion of international arrivals (approximately 1.2 million visits) each year but there is a current travel ban in place right now which prohibits Australia citizens and permanent residents from leaving Australia due to COVID-19 restrictions (exemptions can be made for legitimate reasons). According to the country's Tourism Minister, Simon Birmingham, the country's borders are likely to stay shut for the rest of the year.
