American Express Platinum Members Can Now Use S$400 Hotel Credit on Prepaid Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) Bookings

The American Express Platinum Card may come with a S$1,712 annual fee each year but the perks that come with this metal card make up for the non-waivable annual fee. Starting from 01 July 2021, Platinum Members can once again utilise the S$400 Hotel Travel Credit on eligible Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) Bookings made via the online travel portal. You will be able to use this hotel travel credit to offset FHR bookings where you will enjoy exclusive perks like USD 100 property credit, guaranteed late check-out at 4:00 PM, as well as earn points and nights on eligible stays if the property participates in a hotel loyalty program (e.g. Marriott Bonvoy or Golden Circle).

Platinum Members enjoy S$800 annual travel credit every year and this consists of S$400 Air Travel Credit as well as S$400 Hotel Travel Credit. If you do not know what an FHR Rate is, I highly recommend that you read up a little bit on it since it can offer a lot of value on short stays (e.g. weekend staycations in Singapore). If you have a HoteLux membership or use ClassicTravel.com to access luxury travel advisor rates, you might be familiar with some of these perks.

With the changes that went live on 01 July 2021, Platinum Members can now choose to prepay for stays booked under the FHR Rate and as a result of that, they can now apply the S$400 hotel travel credit towards these bookings. Additionally, they would also be able to take advantage of on-going offers that stack with these FHR bookings. For example, the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore is currently running a third night free offer for FHR stays through 06 September 2021. Being able to offset S$400 from the total bill while taking advantage of this offer is fantastic.

In an exclusive interview with The Straits Times today, there is some possibility of international leisure travel with places like the United States, Hong Kong and some parts of the European Union before the end of 2021. Therefore, if you have been putting off The Platinum Card for a while now, it may be a good time to reconsider this as the perks are actually quite impressive - the card will also give you access to exclusive American Express Offers that happen throughout the year.
