Transitioning Your ANZ Credit Cards to DBS - What You Need to Know!

While we all know that the ANZ Travel Card has died a horrible death and that your accrued Travel$ will be converted into DBS Points, it has come to my attention recently that DBS has in fact provided a really good website detailing the upcoming changes and more importantly, what will happen to your existing points and credit card products.

ANZ Travel$ to be Converted into DBS Points after 19 June 2017

Two months ago, I wrote about the reasons on why you should cancel your ANZ Travel Card since the business unit is already sold to DBS and more importantly, the ANZ Travel Card has essentially no more travel benefits. If for some reason, you are still holding on to it (I am personally waiting for the renewal miles to post since I was charged the annual fee prior to 01 April 2017), it is worth noting that your reward points (including Travel$) will be converted into DBS Points from 06 June 2017 (or 19 June 2017 for KrisFlyer Miles redemption).

Cancel your ANZ Travel Card Now - No More Renewal Miles and Lounge Benefits

The ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card was one of my favourite credit cards in Singapore when I first starting working - it once offered complimentary and unlimited lounge access, limousine transfer after spending a reasonable amount and paying the annual fees (S$200) for 10,000 miles seem to be pretty reasonable. Starting from 01 April 2017 however, the ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card will no longer offer lounge access (yes not even the horrible DragonPass Airport lounge access) and there will no longer be anymore renewal miles when you pay the annual fee - how is this even a travel card anymore?!

Changes to ANZ Travel Card's Unlimited Airport Lounge Benefit (from 01 September 2016)

If you follow The Shutterwhale on Facebook, you should have seen my rant this morning on the changes to the ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card's unlimited Airport Lounge benefit that came into effect this morning. One of the last few benefits of this card used to be the unlimited access to Veloce lounges all over the world but now that has been taken away and been replaced with a conditional DragonPass access instead.

5.6 Miles per S$1 with ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card - Targeted Offer

After deciding that it was time to ditch my ANZ Optimum World MasterCard in May this year, I left my ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card alone as well - the card itself isn't bad but if you look at it from where it was and where it currently is, it is a little bit of a disappointment. Still, 1.4 Travel$ (or miles) per S$1 isn't particularly bad for things that do not qualify for bonus miles. I do believe in paying the annual fees for some credit cards in Singapore in order to "buy" miles - find out which ones to buy now - and the ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card offers 10,000 Travel$ (equivalent to 10,000 KrisFlyer miles) each year for S$200. Last week, I got an SMS notifying me that I "have been exclusively selected to get up to 2.8 bonus air miles for every $1 spent on [my] ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card".

Transferring Travel$ (Miles) to Friends and Family on ANZ Travel Card

While it is not uncommon for points to accrue on the principal cardholder's account when supplementary cardholders make eligible spend, it is quite rare for banks to allow cardholders to transfer points between two parties (especially when they are not directly related). Even though the benefits from the ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card have been diluted over the years, it is still a pretty decent card to have when you consider everything else. Paying S$200 a year for 10,000 bonus Travel$ (which converts into 10,000 miles) is not necessarily a bad idea so long you know how to use your miles wisely. What a lot of people do not realise however is that it is actually possible to transfer your Travel$ to another ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Principal Cardholder.

ANZ Travel Visa Signature to Remove Limo Benefit

The credit cards from ANZ seem to be going downhill. I have just successfully cancelled my ANZ Optimum World MasterCard since they did not want to waive the annual fee (and paying the fee for a cashback card really makes no sense), the list of free airport lounge with the ANZ Travel Visa Signature Card  has been deteriorating and now with effect from 01 June 2016, the complimentary airport limousine transfer benefit will be discontinued.

Why It Is Time to Ditch Your ANZ Optimum World MasterCard

The ANZ Optimum World MasterCard is the only cashback card I have in my wallet. Since I do enjoy dining (and staying) at hotels quite a bit, the card has been a little bit of a godsend since it allows you to earn 5% back in cashback if you pick Dining & Leisure as your preferred category. Most of you should know that using your Citibank Rewards Card or UOB Preferred Platinum Visa will not earn you 4 miles per dollar because hotels are generally excluded from bonus spending. One year in with the ANZ Optimum World MasterCard, it's time to finally say goodbye.
