Annual Winefamily Gathering (19 October 2014)
If you miss going from vineyards to vineyards sampling wine and cheese, you will be thrilled to know that the Annual Winefamily Gathering is happening next month at Chijmes on 19 October 2014. Winefamily is an online wine sales platform and social network that is set to revolutionise the wine buying industry here in Singapore!
Set in an old historic Catholic convent in Singapore, Chijmes offers ample space for event goers to socialise and mingle. There are two sessions on the day of event so be sure to get in quick and get your tickets!
- 11am to 3pm
- 4pm to 8pm (or later!)
General admission tickets are S$28 and it comes with S$10 wine vouchers that can be redeemed on the day of event. If you act fast (only about 24 hours left), you can still take advantage of the Early Bird tickets which are priced at S$25 instead of S$28!

The Winefamily Gathering 2014 promises great company, music, cheese and wine at a great price!
I had the privilege to attend a Winefamily Wingle event this month at Praelum Wine Bar & Restaurant at Duxton Hill. These events happen on a more frequent basis so be sure to like and follow the Winefamily Facebook Page - trust me, you won't want to miss it! I wish I had taken more photos but the food and company was amazing so I only ended up taking a couple.
We started off with a Cremant de Loire Brut Sparkling from Clos des Quarterons which is a blend of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. Only 5,000 of these bottles are produced and they are reasonably priced at Winefamily for only S$37.00 each. These are especially easy to drink and it is a great (and better-tasting) substitute for your expensive champagne from expensive labels.
A glass of Comenge Verdejo Rueda (S$40.00) was paired with a Raviolis Au Fromage. The most amazing Côte de Porc Épicées was then served with a glass of AOC Vacqueyras (S$39.00). We also sampled an Oven-Roasted Beef dish that was paired with a beautiful Navarra from Pago de Larrainza (S$65.00) before ending the dinner with the most amazing Crème Brulée I've had in Singapore alongside a small glass of Alvear Moscatel (S$45.00).
If you are kind of clueless when it comes to wine (like me!), be sure to drop by the Winefamily Gathering on 19 October and mingle with great company and great wine!
