Honouring Internal Rate Errors at Conrad Centennial Singapore
The Conrad Centennial Singapore is currently running a Year End Getaway promotion that offers up to 20% off the Best Available Rate. As I wanted to take advantage of a number of promotions for the stay, I've decided to go with a two night stay sometime in December 2015 and was offered the following rate of S$300++ per night (total of S$600++ for two nights) for a Classic Room. As I was fiddling around with the dates, I realised that it is actually cheaper to book the two nights separately instead.
If I were to book the two nights separately (one night each), I will pay only S$276++ for the first night and S$300++ for the second night - a total of S$576++ instead of S$600++. Sure the S$24++ savings isn't particularly significant but I was surprised to see an internal rate error like that.
After making the room reservations separately, I then emailed the Conrad Concierge to combine my reservations (in order to benefit from the two night stay bonuses). This is probably something you should take note of when booking with hotels - wouldn't hurt to break down the room nights into one-night reservations. Another benefit from making one-night reservations is the ability to shorten your stay with minimal financial impact (applicable to non-refundable rates only).
American Express is now accepted for public transport fares on Singapore’s MRT and buses. From 3-31 July 2025, eligible cardholders can register for an Amex Offer to receive S$3 back on every S$6 spent on transit fares, up to five times per registered card.
