Three Michelin-star Chef Pop-Up Restaurant in Malaysia
Arriving at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia's first pop-up restaurant, Aziamendi 88, and it is going to feature Spain's renowned celebrity as well as a three Michelin-star chef, Eneko Atxa from 22 July to 31 October 2015. Taking up residency at the Mandarin Grill with a carefully curated team of trained chefs, expert sommeliers and waitstaff from his Aziamendi restaurant in Thailand, guests will be treated to an gastronomical journey through northern Spain for 88 days.
The Azurmendi restaurant in Bilbao has been recognised as one of the world's top 20 restaurants by San Pellegrino and it was opened as the celebrity chef's first venture. Following the success of Azurmendi, Chef Eneko Atxa opened Aziamendi at an ultra-luxurious Iniala Beach House, near Phuket, in 2013.
In addition to Basque-rooted fine cuisine, Aziamendi 88 at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur will also offer guests a taste of art and charity. Curated by Lim Wei Ling, the founder of the Wei-Ling Gallery, contemporary art pieces will be exhibited at the restaurant and all pieces will be available for purchase by diners. Five percent of the revenue generated at Aziamendi 88 will be donated to a local charity, the United Voice Malaysia as well as a Bali-based Inspirasia Foundation.
