Ever since I have gotten my tailored set of Accelerate 2016 challenges from IHG, I have been a lot more involved with the program. I have gotten an Ambassador membership (which I think everyone who stays in any InterContinental Hotel around the world should consider), planned domestic and international stays at participating IHG properties and more importantly, I have been tracking my points religiously. Today, I received an email inviting me to join the IHG Rewards Club Advisors where I will be able to earn 500 to 5,000 IHG Rewards Club Points each month by completing a set of surveys.
It is definitely interesting to see what kinds of surveys IHG is interested in and when it will actually start. Sure, the IHG Rewards Club Points are a nice bonus but there is nothing I like more than providing feedback to the hotel (assuming they do act on it!).
IHG has just announced its plans to acquire Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas (which currently manages 16 hotels and resorts) for $300 Million in cash. There are 18 management contracts signed into its pipeline, and more than 50 further deals under active discussion. With properties in locations such as the Maldives, the Seychelles, Yao Noi in Thailand, Zighy Bay in Oman, and Portugal’s Douro Valley, the addition of Six Senses’ award-winning estate and high-quality development pipeline will further round out IHG’s position in the luxury segment.
IHG is set to open more than 25 highly-anticipated Kimpton hotels across 20 new global destinations including Taipei, Bali, Bangkok, Tokyo and Shanghai in the next three to five years. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants was founded back in 1981 in San Francisco and the heartfelt approach to hospitality has translated to unique, design-led hotels across city centers, beachside resorts, mountain getaways, and more.
I have been to Melbourne at least ten times now (I went to school in Brisbane and spent plenty of weekends here in Melbourne because there was just so much more to do) and honestly, I have not actually noticed the InterContinental Melbourne previously - I knew it existed but I just wasn't sure where it was. Room rates were pretty high the weekend that I was visiting so I decided to make use of my InterContinental Ambassador Free Weekend Night Certificate on this stay. Read my review of the Executive Room here in the InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto.
Earn extra IHG Rewards Club points when you complete certain tasks between 15 January 2019 and 30 April 2019. Previously know as the Accelerate offer, IHG Rewards Club members will now be able to earn at least 40,000 bonus points for eligible stays that have been consumed within the promotional period - registration needs to be completed before 15 March 2019 so just do it right now in case you forget.
I was truly excited to check out the InterContinental Bali Resort after hearing so much about it so when I found out that the hotel has only quite recently gone through a massive refurbishment phase, I decided that it was the right time to check out one of the newly-renovated Premium Duplex Suites. Check out my review of the beautiful luxury Bali property!
San Francisco-based luxury boutique brand, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has just opened the first property in the UK in London’s Bloomsbury neighbourhood. The Kimpton Fitzroy London combines late-Victorian heritage with a quirky, modern vibe. The existing glamour of the building, paired with Kimpton’s signature heartfelt service, brings a new hotel offering to London that delivers exclusivity for everyone.
IHG Rewards Club is currently running the Double Points Plus More promotion (similar to the previous Accelerate promotions) which is valid for stays between 16 September 2018 to 16 December 2018. Part of the offer includes the ability to earn double IHG Rewards Club Points (calculated on Base Points) but that was previously capped at 15,000 bonus points for me. Now, IHG Rewards Club has made the earning potential unlimited - you will now earn double IHG Rewards Club Points until 31 December 2018 with no cap!
When I visited Bangkok back in February (yes this stay was almost 8 months back), the hotel rates were through the roof for some reason on that weekend that I was there. As such, I decided to redeem some of my IHG Rewards Club points for a stay at the InterContinental Bangkok. I flew in from Haneda to Bangkok on Japan Airlines Business Class and was pleasantly impressed by the overall experience - the food (both in terms of taste and presentation) was great and the on-board service was truly memorable. Even though I was given a premium lane pass, I decided to use the automated gates instead since the queue there was even shorter.
Book a Club InterContinental room or higher in any InterContinental Hotels and Resorts in Singapore, Bali, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam before 17 October 2018 to get the third night free. Stays have to be consumed between 01 November 2018 and 31 March 2019 and the maximum stays length for this promotion is 6 nights (this will include 2 complimentary nights). It is also a good idea to time this with the latest Accelerate offer (which you can sign-up HERE) to get the most bang for your buck.
When the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay first opened in Singapore back in 2017, it required 60,000 IHG Rewards Points per reward night. The hotel is the country's second InterContinental-branded property and it features luxurious rooms and suites (albeit small) in the heart of Robertson Quay. While shopping for hotel rooms recently, I noticed that the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay only requires 50,000 IHG Rewards Points now for a free night - this puts it on par with the InterContinental Singapore in Bugis which I personally prefer.
