Hawkerlicious Buffet at Flavours at Zhongshan Park (Ramada Singapore at Zhongshan Park)
I love a good hawker buffet at the hotel - it's convenient, clean and comfortable. With that being said, it's not easy to find a place that does it well but the Hawkerlicious' Dinner Buffet at Flavours at Zhongshan Park (located within the Ramada Singapore at Zhongshan Park) truly impressed me - whatever it did not have in variety, it made up in quality.
The Hawkerlicious Dinner Buffet does not have the variety of a full buffet restaurant in a five-star hotel (you should not be expecting the variety of Edge here) but rather, the dinner selection features a carefully curated selection of hawker favourites that are done really well. The oyster omelette is one of my favourite dishes that I've sampled that night - that delicious egg and fresh oysters were a beautiful combination.
The buffet line is filled with delicious hawker favourites that change from time to time. Do keep in mind that the Hawkerlicious buffet is also available during lunch but there is definitely a more extensive line during dinner (trust me, you do not want to rush through this meal). For the sashimi-lovers, the buffet spread also has a small selection of fresh sashimi and sushi.
Here's something that will definitely give you extra bang for your buck - a fresh seafood counter (read: zi char counter) where you can pick what you want (including the sauce) and how you want it cooked. You can definitely order unlimited servings of these and considering how there were fresh crabs, snapper, prawns, clams and squids while I was there, I dare say this is one of the best value buffets in Singapore if you are looking for a hawker-themed one (wait until you hear how much dinner costs!).
Since there are five different sauces and five different protein types, you can sample twenty-five different combinations of the dishes (this excludes permutations if you choose to have different protein types in one dish!). The salted egg yolk crab that I sampled that evening was delicious!
Don't forget the D.I.Y. Noodles station too where you can assemble your very own bowl of Nonya Laksa, Penang Assam Laksa or Prawn Noodles (only one soup base will be featured on a daily basis).
