Are Diamond Hilton Honors Members Losing Suite Upgrades? Newly-Published Member Benefits Matrix Suggests Possibility
In case you have not heard, Hilton Honors will be extending elite statuses for all members globally by an additional 12 months - it offers one of the most generous status extension policies due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Today, it appears that Hilton Honors has made some wording changes to the Member Benefits page and apparently suite upgrades may have been taken out of the picture for Diamond members.

According to the latest Member Benefits matrix published by Hilton Honors, Diamond Members are able to enjoy 'Space-available Room Upgrades' and this is what is has been defined as:
If we have a better room available, it’s yours – all the way up to the executive level.
Previously, the Member Benefits matrix clearly states that upgrades for Diamond members are extended up to 1-Bedroom Suite room types. According to the new Member Benefits matrix, both Diamond and Gold members will get to enjoy an upgrade 'all the way up to the executive level'. Now the wording does not exclude suite upgrades completely but the more ambiguous these things are, the less possibility for a proper suite upgrade in reality.
According to the Hilton Honors terms and conditions, suite upgrades are still included for Diamond Hilton Honors Members but it is unclear at this time whether the wording would be updated in days to come:
Upgrades for Diamond Hilton Honors Members may include upgrades up to “junior”, “standard” or “one-bedroom” suites. Upgrades exclude executive suites, villas and specialty accommodations/floors/towers (which may include, but not limited to, “Vista”, “Villa”, “Club”, “Imperial,” or “Residences” accommodation types), subject to the discretion of the hotel.
Obviously I am very thankful for another year of Diamond status (especially since I was doing mattress-runs in Singapore before the announcement) but excluding suite upgrades when available seems like an unnecessary move.
