Staycations May Be Allowed Soon - Hotels Can Seek Approval from Government to Accept Bookings from Local Residents
According to the latest advisory from the Singapore Tourism Board, hotels may stay accepting staycation bookings from local residents soon. In order to be approved for this, hotels will have to comply with safe management measures drawn up by various government agencies and they will have to submit a formal application to the government in they are interested in doing so.
Hotels in Singapore have stopped accepting bookings from local residents since the circuit breaker started back on 07 April 2020 and while special exemptions have been made since the start of Phase 2 of Singapore’s reopening, staycation bookings from local residents were not yet accepted. In order for hotels to start accepting guests once again, they will have to submit a formal application to the Singapore Tourism Board for assessment and their premises will be inspected by the statutory board - it will take up to 14 days for STB to access each application.
Hotels that have received approval will be required to submit a set of required data every week and alert STB whenever there is a positive case of Covid-19 at the hotel.
