Google Pay Singapore is running a Lunar New Year game and you can get up to S$88.88 by simply collecting all 5 Huat pals by 11:59 PM on 26 February 2021. Each Google Pay user will receive one ang pow scratch card (worth S$8.88 to S$88.88) if they manage to collect all five characters by the aforementioned date. Haut pals can be collected through different qualifying actions but you can also request or gift them to your friends.

What Are Huat Pals and How to Collect Them?

Huat Pals are characters and there are five variations to collect by the end of 26 February to receive a bonus Ang Pow worth somewhere between S$8.88 and S$88.88. There are two major ways to collect a Huat Pal and you can do so by either completing a qualifying action each day (and get a random Huat Pal) or receive one from a friend.

What Qualifying Actions Are There (to Earn a Huat Pal)?

You will receive a random Huat Pal for completing qualifying actions each day. Here are the four different ways you can earn a random Huat Pal:

• Pay friends who are on Google Pay Singapore

• Pay businesses via QR code, tap & pay, and more

• Complete a referral (sign-up for Google Pay Singapore here!)

• Gift pals to Friends (awarded once they claim it): if you have extra, you can always gift them to a friend to help them out - you will also get a bonus pal

How to Gift a Huat Pal to a Friend?

There are two buttons on the Huat Pals splash screen within the Google Pay app - one of which will allow you to Gift (a Huat Pal) and the other will allow you to Request (for a specific Huat Pal). By completing the various qualifying actions listed above, it is highly likely that you will end up with more than one quantity of each Huat Pal so you may choose to gift them to a friend to help them out. By doing so, you will also complete a qualifying action which will give you another random Huat Pal.

Bonus Huat Pal - Ah Huat The Boss Pineapple

Apparently, there is an “Ah Huat the Boss Pineapple” as a bonus reward - you will get a gift basket every time you collect this bonus Huat pal and you will have to share it with a group on Google Pay in order to claim its contents. There are five rewards in each gift basket and they have a random mix of ang pows (think money!), Huat Pals, and vouchers - you can only claim a maximum of 1 reward per gift basket.

The Lunar New Year game by Google Pay Singapore is unnecessarily complicated but it does encourage frequent usage of the app during the promotional period and I do believe that more people will get on board the platform because of this. Google Pay is a fantastic layer above PayNow for me since it allows me to perform my usual PayNow transactions quickly, and pick up extra rewards along the way.
