Did Alila Ubud Just Increase the Best Available Rate by Over 70% for 2024?
Alila Ubud in Bali is one of those properties that you just have to experience at least once in your life - I have had the opportunity to visit it back when it was still part of the Global Hotel Alliance (before Hyatt acquired Two Roads Hospitality back in 2018 for USD 480 Million). The average rack rate for the property used to hover between USD 120 and USD 140 before taxes, but it seems like this has been increased across the board by close to USD 100 per night - you won't find anything lower than USD 200 per night no matter how far out your stay is.
I do have plans to revisit Alila Ubud as a Globalist member in a couple of months and I am glad I took advantage of a global offer that was running late last year - I locked in my stay at approximately USD 135 per night before taxes. The property is a Category 2 property in the World of Hyatt program and this means that you will be able to redeem for a free night with 6,500 (Off-peak), 8,000 (Standard), 9,500 (Peak) points per night - World of Hyatt Points can be purchased throughout the year and you should consider getting them during a sale to save money on these stays.
As a quick reminder, World of Hyatt has introduced a number of positive changes in 2024 and one of them is the flexibility of awards - you can now transfer awards easily to other World of Hyatt members for them to utilise them on paid and award stays. For example, as a Globalist, I have been given five Guest of Honor awards that I can now transfer to friends and family members (or any World of Hyatt member actually) for them to enjoy the full extent of on-property Globalist benefits on a stay of up to seven nights.
At the time of writing, the average daily rate at Alila Ubud has been adjusted upwards by close to USD 100 per night before taxes and I am not sure if this is a temporary arrangement or a permanent one. If you have not already locked in your bookings for this beautiful property, it is a good idea to consider booking your stays on points (you can always purchase World of Hyatt points if you do not have enough) ahead of time since these awards stays offer a fully flexible cancellation policy.
TRIBE Living Bangkok Sukhumvit 39 is a great value choice for budget-conscious travelers but its slightly longer walk from Phrom Phong BTS Station may make it less convenient compared to more accessible (but pricier) options in the area.
