Hotel Review: Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park (King Room with M Club Lounge Access) - Large Hotel with Great M Club Near Phrom Phong BTS Station
Phrom Phong is an affluent neighborhood in Bangkok that is known for massive shopping malls like EmQuartier, the newly-opened EmSphere, and a diverse dining scene. The upscale residential options in the area are popular amongst the Japanese expat community so it is not uncommon to find a wide range of authentic Japanese restaurants in the vicinity. I typically stay at the Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit whenever I want to be in Phrom Phong since I am always struggling to hit 60 nights for the renewal of my Globalist status in the World of Hyatt program, but I decided to try the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park on one stay and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food in the M Club.

Formerly known as the Imperial Queen’s Park, the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is Bangkok’s largest hotel (in terms of room inventory) with over 1,360 rooms and suites. As you may already know, the Marquis label is reserved exclusively for Marriott properties with over 1,000 rooms and 5,000m² of conference and banqueting space. As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member, I got upgraded to a room with M Club access since the hotel was running pretty full on occupancy and I also received an additional 1,000 points as an alternative upgrade which was a nice touch. The Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park has two towers and I believe the 1,000 points were offered as the club lounge in my tower was closed during my stay - only the larger M Club was open.
Measuring just 32 sqm in size, the lead-in rooms over at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park are relatively smaller in size but they are very modern and comfortable. Apart from the suites, all of the rooms here on property are pretty the same size and the only differentiating factor is the view, and whether or not it comes with access to the M Club Lounge (which is fantastic).
While the interiors of the guestrooms are not particularly inspiring, I did appreciate the simplicity of it all - the king-size bed was also really comfortable, and the air-conditioning works great despite being an old property that has undergone extensive renovations. Like most good business hotels, you will find a control panel for the lights by the bed and there is also an alarm clock if that is something you require.
Each one of the guest rooms here at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park comes with a modern 48-inch LCD TV with a good selection of satellite and cable channels. Even though 32 sqm of space does not sound excessively big on paper, the layout of the room makes sense to create a comfortable living space that is suitable for both work and play.
As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member, I received a small packet of cookies (which were delicious!) as my welcome amenity - there was also a welcome note alongside it which was not handwritten but honestly, this is not really something that I care about or value unless I am paying top dollar for a stay.
As I typically do bring my work along with me on my trips, I did find the work desk to be sufficient but since I had access to the M Club Lounge, that was where I got most of my work done anyway. It is also worth noting that the rooms here at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park do not come with an in-room Nespresso or coffee machine. Some instant coffee sachets are provided in one of the drawers adjacent to the minibar but honestly, I am not sure who drinks these in this day and age. If you do not have access to the M Club Lounge, or you simply want a real cup of coffee, there are plenty of great cafes around the Phrom Phong area.
As my room at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park was located on a reasonably high floor, I had a pretty nice city view (even though it was partially obstructed by some construction going on). Phrom Phong is one of my favourite areas to stay at in Bangkok (as opposed to say, Siam where people used to prefer) as it has such a good mix of great polished restaurants, as well as local authentic eateries which is what Bangkok is known for.
All of the rooms here at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park do not come with a bathtub - only the suites have them - so if that is something that you value a lot on your stay, you will unfortunately have to look somewhere else. While I will not turn down a tub in the room, I do not really care about it enough for this to influence my decision. The modern bathroom comes with a glass-enclosed shower area, a single vanity sink, and the toilet on the side.
While the bathroom does have everything you desire, I did find it strange that the blinds for privacy were located on the outside - even the cord was located outside so someone sharing the room with you could hypothetically lower or raise the blind while you are in the bathroom.
Consistent with brand standards, bath amenities at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park are provided by skincare solution company This Works. The bulk-sized bottles are also mounted on the wall inside the shower area for easy access but this makes it slightly inconvenient to use at the sink area. The water pressure is good and there is also a rain shower head which is perfect to come back to after a long day outside in the Bangkok heat.
There are two main buildings at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park and even though there are two M Club Lounges here at this property, one of them was closed during my visit. As such, the only way for me to access the other building was to either go down to the Lobby on ground level, or to walk through a landscaped garden on Level 9 - no prizes for guessing which one I went with!
For a property with over a thousand rooms, the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park has a rather small swimming pool. I am not saying that the pool is small but rather, I just cannot imagine the crowd here on a hot day when the occupancy is running full. There are also limited deck chairs by the side of the swimming pool and these were typically occupied during my visit but I managed to wake up early enough to get a clean shot of the area.
Adjacent to the swimming pool is an outdoor area filled with deck chairs for all the sun-worshippers who could care less about taking a dip in the pool - it reminded me of those sundecks on large cruise ships. During my stay at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, I did manage to enjoy a dip or two in this pool and it was really nice to end the day here before heading up to the M Club Lounge for evening cocktails and canapes.
Apart from the property’s superior location, the M Club Lounge is truly the crown jewel of the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park in my opinion. With a total inventory of 1,388 rooms and suites, the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is massive, and managing elite guests in a huge property such as this is incredibly challenging as you can imagine. As far as I know, there are two M Club Lounges on the property and one is significantly larger than the other. As you would expect, the M Club Lounge is also pretty large and it offers both indoors, as well as outdoor seating areas.
The outdoor terrace of the M Club Lounge is beautiful and I enjoyed working from this spot while having my morning coffee here during my stay. There were unfortunately several hotel guests smoking here which kind of ruined the experience for me a little but apart from that, it is pretty much the perfect spot in the morning to enjoy the fresh air, a solid cup of coffee, and a skyline view of the city. This spot is also very popular amongst hotel guests in the evening when evening cocktails are served at the lounge.
Complimentary evening cocktails and canapes are offered at the M Club Lounge for eligible hotel guests and those staying on an eligible room rate with Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite and higher status. Free-flowing alcoholic drinks (complete with a manned cocktail trolley) are offered from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM and a wide selection of hot food is offered from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. You will also be able to enjoy desserts from 7:30PM to 9:30 PM but do remember that the drinks stop at 8:30 PM - no one will stop you from grabbing or ordering a couple more beverages before that though.
Since I typically try to get an evening workout in before dinner, I always get back to the hotel at approximately 7:15 PM which is great because I still have time to take some hot food from the buffet spread (and honestly, this is one of the best spreads I have seen in the region), and I still have slightly over an hour to order my drinks. The food selection in the evening is fantastic and it changes daily with some standard recurring items. There are even live stations where you can order things like noodles so if you are too lazy to head out for dinner, the M Club Lounge here at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is definitely a good alternative.
As you can probably imagine, it gets very busy in the M Club Lounge in the evening. With more and more status matches and fast tracks being offered, almost everyone is a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member now (and therefore has access to the lounge for free). This is probably content for a different article but it is worth considering whether to spend an extra 25 nights with the hotel chain to hit Titanium Elite status to get better upgrade chances. If you are curious to see what the spread looks like in the evening, or you would like some inspiration on where to go in Bangkok, feel free to check out my Instagram Highlights - you can either scan the QR code or click on it and it should open up the appropriate IGS in your Instagram app.
As far as food and drinks go in the M Club Lounge, it is probably one of the best I have seen in Bangkok. There is a wide selection of spirits and wines (including sparkling wine, but not Champagne), and you will even find a cocktail trolley where you will be able to order from a list of drinks if that is your choice of poison. The rooms are also quite reasonably priced here and there is usually a special offer when you book via a luxury travel advisor like ClassicTravel.com or HoteLux on longer stays.
The location of the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is fantastic for me - it is just a short 5-10 minute stroll from the Phrom Phong BTS station and it is just a stone’s throw away from the newly opened with over 80 restaurants, cafes, and street food vendors. There is also a Virgin Active outlet located in EmQuartier which makes it easy for me to get my workouts in but I also really enjoyed being able to jog around the Benchasiri Park (which is adjacent to the property) in the mornings and evenings. If you prefer to get a workout in at a studio, there are plenty of options nearby for rhythmic cycling, weight training, or even yoga - simply sign-up for a Classpass account using this link to enjoy 65 credits (instead of the usual 45) for free.
As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member, I had the option of having a full buffet breakfast experience at Goji Kitchen + Bar, or to enjoy a smaller selection at the M Club Lounge. Since I am typically an early riser and the property was not exactly running full during my stay, I decided to check out Goji Kitchen + Bar and I was blown away by the selection and variety of food offered here during breakfast. As I have mentioned before, the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is a large property so obviously, the all-day dining restaurant has to accommodate that. Even though I typically shy away from large properties like that, I have to say that the management of tables and the efficacy of operations was pretty impressive.
The fruit selection during breakfast is something that I still think about randomly from time to time (even when I am not staying at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park). There is a massive selection of fresh fruits available and there is honestly nothing that makes me happier than that. There is also a good selection of iced teas, cold brew coffee, as well as the usual beverages available here at Goji Kitchen + Bar so I highly recommend that you choose to have your breakfast here instead of the M Club Lounge where possible.
As I had to take a work call on one morning while I was staying at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, I decided to drop by the M Club Lounge instead for a more conducive environment. As expected, the lounge is infinitely more quiet and there are pockets of spaces where you will not see anyone else - perfect for hopping on that call.
While the breakfast selection at the M Club Lounge is considerably smaller, it still offers a very good spread with a live noodle and egg station. Honestly, if I were staying here for a longer period, I might prefer the M Club Lounge over the full breakfast experience at Goji Kitchen + Bar instead. The food is carefully prepared and plated but more importantly, the dining experience is a lot more pleasant since it is not only quieter but you will also benefit from a smaller staff-to-guest ratio here.
The Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is a great hotel if you are familiar with Bangkok and want a convenient location to rest your head - it also comes with an amazing M Club Lounge experience and an impressive breakfast for those with eligible statuses. It is one of those cookie-cutter properties so if you are looking for an accommodation option with a little more personality, you might have to look elsewhere. However, if you do have Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite or higher status, this is one of those properties that will give you excellent bang for your buck - especially if you enjoy a couple of drinks in the evening. I can typically find room rates under THB 5,500 (approx S$210) per night here which is reasonable and I would definitely stay here again when I am not out chasing room nights in the World of Hyatt program at the nearby Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit.

Planning a beach day can seem simple, but unexpected issues often arise. Mornington Peninsula’s beaches are popular, which means dealing with potential crowds, fluctuating weather, and poor preparation can easily ruin your outing. Arriving late might lead to parking challenges, and picking the wrong beach can limit your planned activities. Many forget important items that could make or break their beach experience, leading to stress and missed opportunities for relaxation.
