Hyatt is now on Rakuten: Earn 3% Cashback on Stays (US, Canada & Mexico)
It is always a good day when we can stack more rewards on top of our hotel stays. While I have previously written about using portals like TopCashback or ShopBack for other chains, World of Hyatt has notably been absent from most major cashback portals - until now. Hyatt has officially launched on Rakuten, one of the most popular shopping portals in the US. This new partnership means you can now earn 3% cashback on eligible Hyatt stays, on top of the World of Hyatt points and elite night credits you would normally earn. Now, before you get too excited, this is only valid for eligible hotel stays in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

For those of us based in Singapore, this restriction is admittedly a little disappointing as it excludes our local and regional travels. However, if you are planning a long-haul trip to North America, this is an excellent opportunity to earn extra rebates on often-expensive hotel rates. While 3% might sound modest compared to some OTA promotions, the key here is that booking via Rakuten stacks with your hotel loyalty programme.
For those in the miles and points game, the real value of Rakuten lies in its ability to pay out in American Express Membership Rewards points (if you hold a US Amex card). If you value your miles highly, that 3% cashback effectively becomes 3 Membership Rewards points per USD spent. Even if you only have a Singapore-based PayPal account (or a US checking account), earning a straight 3% USD cashback is still a solid return.
Because the click-through takes you directly to Hyatt.com, your booking is considered a direct booking. This means you will still enjoy all your World of Hyatt elite benefits (like room upgrades, late check-out, and free breakfast for Globalists) and earn base points on your stay.
While it is a shame that this partnership does not yet extend to properties in Asia or Europe, every little bit of extra return counts. If you have upcoming travels to the US, Canada, or Mexico, clicking through Rakuten before booking your Hyatt stay is a no-brainer to pocket an extra 3% rebate
Even if you hold top-tier status with a major hotel chain, booking a Luxury Travel Advisor rate can unlock significant additional value. From guaranteed US$100 property credits and "Stay 3 Pay 2" offers to freeing up your welcome amenity choice, here is why you should consider using a luxury travel advisor for your next booking to "stack" your benefits.
