Qantas is set to open its brand-new Auckland International Lounge on 17 December 2025. The expansive space features a dedicated à la carte dining zone for Platinum members, a cocktail bar, and design elements celebrating the New Zealand landscape.

A look inside the Emirates Lounge at Auckland Airport, which is currently serving Qantas Business Class passengers during the Qantas lounge renovation. While pleasant and functional, the experience was ultimately unremarkable, leaving me eager to see the all-new Qantas International Lounge when it debuts in 2026.

SO/ Auckland brings a bold, fashion-forward twist to the city’s hotel scene, offering a vibrant stay right in the heart of Auckland’s CBD. With its comfortable rooms, strong design identity, and convenient location near Britomart and the waterfront, the hotel delivers a solid option for travellers who want to be close to the action. Those with ALL Platinum status or higher will find the added benefits valuable, but for other travellers, it’s worth weighing up the price against the wider hotel options in the city.

Hotel Indigo, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has officially opened Hotel Indigo Auckland — the brand’s first property in New Zealand. Located in the heart of Midtown on Albert Street, the 225-room hotel combines historic elements with contemporary design, offering a boutique accommodation experience in Auckland's central business district.

The Park Hyatt Auckland is quite possibly the nicest luxury hotel in Auckland with stunning rooms and suites, but the soft product needs some work.

The JW Marriott Auckland is still refurbishing its guest rooms and suites (with an expected completion date in November 2024). I stayed in a Deluxe Room (non-refurbished) and have found the experience to be lacking of a typical JW Marriott property.

The Four Points by Sheraton Auckland is still my favourite hotel in Auckland with a dependable product at an affordable price.

The Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour will reopen in the Spring with a brand new Club Millésime.
