Up Close and Personal with Chef de Cuisine Omar Bernardi at Chef’s Table (Dolce Vita - Mandarin Oriental, Singapore)

I have always been a huge fan of the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore (as well as the larger Mandarin Oriental brand). Having stayed in the Singapore, Taipei and Kuala Lumpur properties, Mandarin Oriental to me, is synonymous to some of the greatest luxuries and indulgences one can partake in. As such, when I was graciously extended an invitation to personally experience Chef's Table with Chef de Cuisine Omar Bernard at Dolce Vita, I was excited!

2016 Basilissimo Series at Basilico (Regent Singapore)

We embarked on a "Viaggio Italiano" journey last year at one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Singapore, Basilico. For the year of 2016, Executive Sous-chef Angelo Ciccone and Basilico Head Chef Luca Beccalli draw inspiration for the picturesque mountains and seas of Italy and create dishes that are reflective of the beautiful geography, local produce and culture. This year-long dining experience will feature a different menu each quarter and the three-course Basilissimo (The Best of Basilico) dinner will include an appetiser and dessert buffet, as well as an à la carte main course.

Chinese New Year (2016) at Park Hotel Clarke Quay

The Park Hotel Clarke Quay is located just minutes away from some of the best bars and restaurants in the area. When I checked out the dinner buffet at Brizo previously, I did not see a Chinese restaurant on property so when I actually saw an invite to try out their Chinese New Year menu, I was intrigued. Just to clarify, there is no Chinese restaurant at the Park Hotel Clarke Quay (well, not now anyway) and the dishes created by Banquet Chef James Wong will be served at the hotel's function rooms. Honestly, the food that was prepared by Chef James surprised me thoroughly. Considering how the hotel does not have an actual Chinese restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food that was served - I dare say it is better than some established Chinese restaurants out there!
