The Shutterwhale for Nikon: Basic Guide to DSLR Food Photography with D500

Released just over a month ago, Singapore's very first Michelin Guide 2016 first saw the light on 21 July 2016. Ever since then, many restaurants that have been awarded Michelin-stars or the Bib Gourmand status have seen an influx of diners. It has been a couple of months since I have last published my first Basic Guide to DSLR Travel Photography and so I thought it was about time to check out some of these listed places and work on something on food photography instead - please note that this is by no means a guide to actual studio food photography (I am just an enthusiast after all!). Here are four basic tips to help you get that winning (and brag-worthy) shot!

Travel Smarter: How to Protect Your Privacy with VPN Unlimited

The use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) has long been synonymous with business travel and accessing data from a remote location (read: outside the office). However, with the expansion of leisure travel over the years, VPNs are used increasingly to access blocked (geo-restricted) content (read: Facebook and Instagram in China). What most people do not realise however is that VPNs are also extremely important (even in Singapore!) if you are logged a public WiFi as personal details can be stolen from you fairly easily.

5.6 Miles per S$1 with ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card - Targeted Offer

After deciding that it was time to ditch my ANZ Optimum World MasterCard in May this year, I left my ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card alone as well - the card itself isn't bad but if you look at it from where it was and where it currently is, it is a little bit of a disappointment. Still, 1.4 Travel$ (or miles) per S$1 isn't particularly bad for things that do not qualify for bonus miles. I do believe in paying the annual fees for some credit cards in Singapore in order to "buy" miles - find out which ones to buy now - and the ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card offers 10,000 Travel$ (equivalent to 10,000 KrisFlyer miles) each year for S$200. Last week, I got an SMS notifying me that I "have been exclusively selected to get up to 2.8 bonus air miles for every $1 spent on [my] ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card".

Buying PokeCoins on Pokemon Go in Singapore - Which One offers the MOST Discount?

So the madness has finally hit Singapore - that's right Pokemon Go is live in Singapore now. When I got out of the house this afternoon to grab an early lunch, I noticed people with their faces stuck to their phones walking around pretty aimlessly. It is actually pretty easy to spot a Pokemon Trainer - they walk to a certain spot (supposedly a PokeStop) for some freebies, hang out there for a couple of seconds then make their way to the next. In any case, if you are part of this millennial revolution and wish to purchase PokeCoins in the game (how else are you going to get a lure module?!), here's a quick breakdown of which one to get!

Get 3.88% Interest with Standard Chartered's BonusSaver Account

The OCBC 360 Account was a game changer in Singapore - for most of us average Singaporeans, the account brought the pathetic 0.05% interest rates offered by most banks to something that was decent enough to make us switchover (even from Standard Chartered Bonus$aver). Once this has taken off, UOB quickly followed with the One Account (click HERE to find out whether the OCBC 360 or UOB One is better!) to steal some of the market share. A couple of days ago, Standard Chartered unveiled the brand new Bonus$aver Deposit Account that gives up to 3.88% interest p.a. on your first S$100,000 deposit balance (OCBC and UOB applies the bonus interest on the first S$60,000 and S$50,000 respectively only).

My First uberPOOL Experience - What a Disaster!

uberPOOL was just launched last week in Singapore and unlike GrabHitch, the new carpooling service by Uber allows you to elect the option to carpool when using the uberX service. I decided to put it to the test the last weekend and perhaps it could be that the system is relatively new but it was an absolute disaster - my ride took way longer than it should even though Uber claims that it doesn't matter whether 'you’re first or second into the car, Uber ensures that you’re never taken more than a few minutes out of your way'.

Redeeming your UOB UNI$ - S$250 Voucher or Free Business Flight to Tokyo?

Collecting miles in the form of credit card points is an obsession - you've seen the articles I have written and if you know me personally, I barely use cash at all (unless the merchant doesn't accept credit cards - in which case I will probably walk away). Despite all the ridiculously bad service that I have gotten from UOB recently, I still use their cards religiously because it allows me to earn up to 10UNI$ per S$5 - this is equivalent to 20 miles per S$5.
