Multi-Stop Rides with Grab's Flat-fare Ride Pass - Was That the Real Reason the Subscription Was Pulled?

Last week, I wrote a short guide about Grab's two new subscription passes - the Flat-fare Ride Pass and the Short Commute Pass. If you are curious to know more about these subscriptions and would like to know which one suits you better, check out my cheat sheet to find out. Grab pulled the Flat-fare Ride Pass shortly after that, claiming that it was 'sold out' but honestly, how do you introduce something like that and have them sell out after a few days. While I personally did not subscribe to any one of these monthly passes, I recently found out that the Flat-fare Ride Pass vouchers can be exploited which leads me to believe that that could actually be one of the factors that led to the decision to pull the subscription from the platform.

Making Sense of Grab's Monthly Subscription Passes - Flat-Fare Ride and Short Commute

In case you are not aware, Grab has quite recently launched two new subscription passes on top of the GrabClub passes. Targeted at regular Grab users, the brand new Flat-fare Ride Pass and Short Commute Pass offers potential discounts to users who understand their own traveling habits. There are two versions in each one of these plans and the only differentiating factor is the number of ride vouchers - light and heavy gives you 10 and 20 ride vouches respectively (and you have 30 days from the date of purchase to use them).

15% Cashback on Grab Rides with Standard Chartered Credit Card

Eligible Standard Chartered cardholders used to be able to enjoy 20% cashback on Grab rides previously but that promotion has expired on 31 July 2018. From now until 31 December 2018, you will be able to enjoy up to 15% cashback on Grab rides in Singapore (and overseas!) when you charge at least S$900 of eligible retail spend each month to your Standard Chartered Credit Card - the cashback is capped at S$30 per month per cardholder.

Standard Chartered to reduce Cashback Cap on Grab Rides from May 2018 - from S$50 to S$30

I wrote about the possibility of getting 20% cashback on Grab rides with an eligible Standard Chartered credit card last week and speculated that the arrangement (which was previously forged with Uber prior to the merger) would be extended now that the Grab-Uber merger is on the horizon. While Standard Chartered appears to have extended this promotion up until July 2018, they have lowered the maximum amount of cashback that you can get each calendar month to SGD 30 (from SGD 50).

How to Save Money on Grab Rides in Singapore - Triple-dipping on Promotions with Credit Cards, Memberships and Apps

With the upcoming Grab-Uber merger on the horizon, there is no better time than now to revisit the best credit cards and platforms to use for Grab rides (especially with the recent introduction of new membership programs). This article aims to highlight a combination of promotions and offers that you can use to get most value out of your Grab rides in Singapore (even though some of them apply to rides taken overseas as well) and while it may not be exhaustive, it will definitely help you save more money on your Grab rides on the whole.

20% Cashback on Grab Rides with Standard Chartered - Capped at S$50 Cashback per Month

I wrote about the best credit cards to use on Uber and Grab previously and my credit card of choice was the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Credit Card which gives 20% rebate (capped at S$50 cashback per month) on all Uber rides when a minimum of S$900 in retail transactions were made in each calendar month. With the upcoming Grab-Uber merger on the horizon, Standard Chartered has now ported over this benefit to the Grab platform - eligible cardholders of eligible credit cards issued by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited can now earn 20% cashback on the Grab App from 01 April 2018 to 30 April 2018 with a minimum spend of S$900 in total retail transaction.

Get S$5 off Grab Ride (Promo Code) for Free via Fuzzie with Referral Code

Fuzzie is one of those platforms in Singapore that have existed for a while now abut no one really talks about it. Even though this is not exactly a deal, I just found out that purchasing gift cards on Fuzzie allows me to double-dip (or even triple-dip!) on promotions and cashbacks. This post is really to get you that free S$5 off promo code on Grab so I shall not veer off topic (even though I am tempted to) - here's how you do it with my referral code.

Making Sense of the new Subscription Programme by Grab and FairPrice - SCORE

Stacking the Uber benefits from the LiveUp membership as well as Standard Chartered's 20% cashback promotion has been the way to go for us Singaporeans but with the Grab-Uber merger (even though it might not go through that quickly since it has apparently infringed on the Competition Act) on the horizon, we may need to reevaluate our strategies. SCORE is a new subscription-based membership which offers members exclusive privileges (read: discounts) on Grab as well as FairPrice. While I am personally not particularly interested in the LinkPoints or FairPrice benefits that come with this membership, I am curious about the ones that you can use on Grab.
