Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong to open in Singapore

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world’s largest hotel companies, has signed a management agreement with consortium Katong Holdings Private Limited to develop Singapore's first Hotel Indigo property at Joo Chiat, one of the country's key heritage sites. The 131-room Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong will mark the entry of IHG's boutique brand onto Singapore's shores.

The deal will also see the development of the third and largest Holiday Inn Express in Singapore: the 451-room Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong. Both hotels will be located in the Joo Chiat neighbourhood of Katong in the eastern part of Singapore – a short 15-minute drive from the world famous Changi Airport and in close proximity to the upcoming Marine Parade metro station.

Joo Chiat, recently earmarked by the government as Singapore's first heritage town and teeming with rich cultural stories from the city's colourful history, is an up and coming destination renowned for its unique heritage influenced by a combination of Peranakan (Straits-Chinese), Eurasian, Malay, Indian and Chinese cultures. The mixed-use development which the hotels will be part of will also include a number of carefully selected independent food and beverage outlets.

Hotel Indigo is IHG’s boutique brand, offering guests the individuality of a boutique hotel but with the benefits and reassurance of one of the world's largest hotel companies behind it. Every Hotel Indigo property is designed to reflect the local neighbourhood. From the building design, to the hotel’s artwork and locally-inspired menus, each Hotel Indigo is unique to its surroundings, so no two hotels are the same. In addition, guests can look forward to immersing in stories of the neighbourhood through creatively crafted spaces reflecting the area's vibrant heritage – a key cornerstone of the brand.

Complementing the host of food and beverage around the vicinity, Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong will feature an all-day dining restaurant and a second food and beverage outlet. The hotel will also have one meeting room. Guests can wind down by the swimming pool, work out at the fitness centre or seek respite in the sanctuary space.

Catering to value-conscious travellers, Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong will feature one meeting room and a comfortable breakfast area called The Great Room. The hotel will also offer guests a smart and convenient stay through:

  • Free and fast Wi-Fi available in guest rooms and throughout the hotel so they stay connected all day, every day
  • Free Express Start™ Breakfast or a Grab & Go option for a smart start to the day
  • A comfortable and restful sleep with high quality bedding and a choice of firm or soft pillows
  • Self-service business centre and laundry room for their everyday needs
  • Access to the fitness centre to indulge in their fitness regime any time

Both hotels, expected to open in 2016, will cement IHG's market-leading position as one of the largest international hotel groups in Singapore. Hotel Indigo Katong Singapore will represent the launch of the fifth brand under IHG's portfolio in the city.
