Summary of Credit Card Promotion Extensions and Discontinuations (April 2017)
In order to help everyone keep track of the discontinuation and extension of credit card promotions in Singapore, I will be posting a series of summaries every couple of months. These summaries will basically tell you which mile-related promotions have been extended and which credit cards to ditch - no I will not be tracking dining or shopping promotions.
1. HSBC Advance Visa Platinum Credit Card - 10X Rewards (4 miles per S$1) extended until 31 May 2017
Contrary to popular belief, the 10X rewards for the HSBC Advance Visa Platinum Credit Card has been extended until 31 May 2017 - it was previously supposed to end on 31 March 2017. As a quick recap, the credit card is one of the most generous ones in the Singapore market right now as it offers up 4 miles per S$1 spent on online, local dining as well as local entertainment transactions. The maximum number of points you can earn each month is the monthly credit limit multiplied by 10 - if your credit limit is S$20,000, you may earn up to 200,000 HSBC Rewards bonus points (80,000 miles) each month.
2. OCBC Titanium Rewards Card - 10X Rewards (4 miles per S$1) on Mobile Payments and Personal Care extended until 30 September 2017
The OCBC Titanium Rewards Card is a welcome addition to every travel hacker or smart consumer's wallet - it offers 10X Reward Points which is equivalent to 4 miles per S$1 on all transactions made across bonus categories but more importantly, it gives that same benefit on all mobile payments (e.g. Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay). The bonus on mobile payments have been extended until 30 September 2017. There is a maximum number of bonus points you can earn from these 10X promotions (120,000 OCBC$) so if you have maxed out your card already, it is worth considering getting the Pink one (assuming you got the Blue one) since the bonus limits are calculated separately.
3. Citi Rewards Card - 20X Rewards (8 Miles per S$1) extended until 30 June 2017
If you enjoy shopping on Amazon (there are some seriously good deals out there!), the Citi Rewards Card will continue to give you 20X Rewards Points on all eligible transactions made on the website (yes this includes buying Gift Cards on Amazon) - this is equivalent to 8 miles per S$1 spent which is honestly pretty impressive if you are a big spender. Do take note that there is a maximum of 20,000 Citi Dollars that a cardholder can earn in each statement cycle under this promotion.
4. ANZ Travel Visa Signature Card - Discontinuation of Travel Benefits and Renewal Miles from 01 April 2017
If you are still holding on this card, it is time to think about rounding up your balance and cashing out while you still can. From 01 April 2017 onwards, you will no longer receive any more travel benefits with the ANZ Travel Visa Signature Card (find out why you should cancel this credit card HERE).
UOB Lady’s Cards will only earn up to 4 miles per dollar from 01 April 2024 - maximum cap on UOB Lady's Solitaire Card (including metal version) will also be reduced from S$3,000 to S$2,000.
