American Express Platinum Members Now Get Complimentary Night Each Year Across Selected Mandarin Oriental, Banyan Tree and Angsana Properties

The Platinum Card from American Express is one of the best cards to hold in Singapore (as long as you can stomach the S$1,712 annual fee each year) as it comes with a range of fantastic benefits. I have justified the high annual fees for this metal card previously and I have also made the decision to renew it late last year even without the 'welcome offer'. Platinum members receive a membership anniversary gift each year with the payment of annual fees - one night stay at either The St. Regis Singapore or W Singapore - Sentosa Cove - but it appears that eligible members will now be able to select from a longer list of properties (sadly, W Singapore - Sentosa Cove has been removed) which include selected Mandarin Oriental, Banyan Tree and Angsana properties in the region.

The membership anniversary gift (one-night stay) is not to be confused with the welcome offer (two-night stay) which you only get if you are an eligible new customer - the former is something that you get every year and the latter is something that you will only get in your first year. If you are planning to get The Platinum Card, you may consider using my referral link for The Platinum Card to get 40,000 bonus Membership Rewards (MR) points (equivalent to 25,000 miles or 50,000 Hilton Honors points) when you spend a minimum of S$5,000 in the first 3 months of your card membership - this bonus is on top of all other welcome offers that you get to enjoy. As a quick reminder, you will also get to enjoy 75,000 bonus MR points (equivalent to 46,875 miles or 93,750 Hilton Honors points) when you spend S$20,000 in the first 3 months of the card membership so this brings the total bonus hull to 115,000 MR Points (equivalent to 71,875 miles or 143,750 Hilton Honors points). As mentioned at the start of the article, American Express Platinum Members can enjoy a night's stay at either The St. Regis Singapore or the W Singapore - Sentosa Cove but members who have just renewed (or apply!) their Platinum Card will now have a much longer list of properties to choose from. Even though the W Singapore - Sentosa Cove is no longer on this list, there are 18 new properties to choose from. If you are planning to use your voucher in Singapore only, you can now pick between The St. Regis Singapore (no change) or the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore. Alternatively, if you wish to use this voucher overseas, there are a couple of fantastic properties to choose from (many of which are significantly more expensive too) this time:

• Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok (I stayed here back in 2016 and was completely won-over)

• Banyan Tree Lang Co
