Hilton Singapore Will Start Accepting Staycation Guests from 13 September 2020 and Why Hilton Honors Elite Members Should Care

[Update (04 September 2020): Hilton Singapore has now confirmed that the property will start accepting leisure guests from 13 September 2020.]

Hilton Singapore has already been approved by STB and MTI to start accepting leisure and staycation bookings from local residents. While the property has not officially communicated a date in which it will start accepting these bookings, I have reached out to the reservation team and was informed that 13September 2020 will be the first day as the hotel is fully booked from now until then. Now, this is important for those of you looking to take advantage of all the Hilton promotions in the market (and you should!). If you hold an eligible American Express Card, remember that you will also be able to get S$120 back from spending S$400 across each Hilton property in Singapore before the end of 08 November 2020.

At the time of writing, there is no official news on whether the Conrad Centennial Singapore and the Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon will start accepting leisure bookings soon - both properties are not yet approved by STB/MTI and they are still being utilised as dedicated SHN facilities in Singapore. Therefore, if you are planning to stay with the Hilton chain, the Hilton Singapore is your only option from 13 September 2020 (but hopefully we will see the other two properties on the radar soon!).

Double Tier Nights and Points from 08 September - Earn More Points and Status Faster

Hilton Honors was one of the first few hotel loyalty programs to announce a status extension initially - they have also gone a step further to extend this benefit to all members globally. However, if you did not qualify for 2020 (and therefore received an extension through 31 March 2021), this is the best time to start clocking in those nights! The latest Hilton Honors global promotion will allow you to earn double Hilton Honors points and elite-qualifying nights from 08 September 2020 to 31 December 2020. What this means is that you can now hit Hilton Diamond Status with just 30 nights instead of 60 nights with the double elite-qualifying nights benefit.

All Elite Nights Earned in 2020 will Rollover to 2021

Last month, Hilton Honors also announced that they will be rolling over all the qualifying nights earned in 2020 to 2021 - this means that if you earn 40 nights this year, you will only need 20 more next year to earn Hilton Honors Diamond. In fact, what I am personally aiming for is to hit 60 nights this year (and achieve all the milestone bonuses) to secure my Hilton Honors Diamond Status through March 2023 (since all 60 nights will rollover to 2021 and therefore securing my status for another year).

American Express Offer - Spend S$400, Get S$120 Back (by 08 November 2020)

Finally, if you are based in Singapore and have an eligible American Express-issued credit (or charge!) card, you will be able to enjoy the amazing offer of getting S$120 statement credit back from spending just S$400 - each card with the saved offer can enjoy S$120 statement credit from each Hilton property in Singapore (total of S$360 back from spending S$1,200).

The S$400 minimum spend can be accrued from hotel stays (even though you will have to pay at the property at the front desk) or from dining spend. If you hold The Platinum Card or any other Platinum Credit Cards, you will also be able to stack your Love Dining benefits (50% off dining bill) with this incredible offer, across multiple transactions (if necessary).

Since I have already qualified for Marriott Bonvoy status and have it good through February 2022, I will be focusing my efforts on Hilton Honors (mostly) for the rest of the year as I do intend to take advantage of all the promotions that are going on in the market. Besides, if the largest flagship Hilton hotel (with over 1,000 rooms) is opening in Singapore come 2022, I want to make sure that i have the right Hilton Honors status for my upcoming stays.
