Hilton Honors Targeted Offer: 4,000 Bonus Points for One Stay before 31 December 2023
I have been a Hilton Honors Diamond Member for almost a decade now and since I have not had many upgrade successes (or late checkouts) with the loyalty program, I have decided to ditch it at the start of this year and focus my time (and resources) on the World of Hyatt and Marriott Bonvoy programs instead. I have not had a single stay with Hilton since the beginning of 2023 and I actually got a targeted offer in my mailbox today offering 4,000 bonus points on an eligible stay completed before 31 December 2023.

The targeted offer is valid from 28 July 2023 to 31 December 2023 so I would expect members with inactivity to be targeted with some kind of tailored offer. While 4,000 bonus points are a nice touch (especially with the ongoing global promotion through 1 September 2023), it is only worth approximately USD 20 based on my own valuations. Even with the global promotion and the Diamond Elite welcome bonus, I will be earning only 7,000 bonus points (on top of base points) on a stay at a participating Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, or Hilton property which is worth approximately USD 35.

There are some great properties that participate in the Hilton Honors loyalty program but honestly, I have been a top-tier member (and even qualifying based on spend and not stays on some years) for almost 10 years but have not received a real upgrade or have a late check-out request fulfilled on most of my stays. Besides, holding The American Express Platinum Card gives me Hilton Honors Gold which guarantees complimentary breakfast for me on eligible stays. The real benefit that Hilton Honors Diamond members have over Gold members is lounge access which I admit is a fantastic one, but it does not justify having to spend USD 12,000 each year before taxes when other loyalty programs give me a higher return on investment.
Also, I am not sure why but I cannot seem to register for the promotion even though my account has been targeted and I received an email regarding it but I will be trying this again over the next couple of days.
