More importantly, being a Platinum GHA Member allows me to earn Local Experience Awards. The GHA program does not operate on an expense-related point system. You will only earn Local Experience Awards when you stay at a new brand for the first time or re-qualify for Platinum (with 10 qualifying nights) each year.

I received a pretty interesting email today stating that Platinum Local Experiences can now be used to redeem for a free night at one of the participating properties in Singapore. Black Local Experiences can be used to redeem for a better room type and across more participating properties. As far as I know, redemptions can be used to offset a reservation of two nights or more (subjected to availability). This is actually a pretty great improvement to the current program and I am excited to see new changes coming this way. Hopefully this is not just a one-off thing!
