The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) introduced Business Rewards back in 2015 which allows users and professionals to be rewarded for booking accommodations as well as meeting spaces for others. The Double Play Double Points promotion which is currently running (between 01 January 2017 and 15 April 2017) allows users to earn up to 6 IHG Rewards Club points (instead of 3) per US$1 for events and stays up to 31 August 2017.
Double rewards points can be earned on eligible accommodation, meeting and event bookings made during the aforementioned promotional period for up to US$20,000. Once this limit has been reached, earning rate will revert back to 3 IHG Rewards Club points per US$1.
- Spend US$2,000 and receive 12,000 IHG Rewards Club Points
- Spend US$20,000 and receive 120,000 IHG Rewards Club Points
- Spend US$50,000 and receive 210,000 (120,000 + 90,000) IHG Rewards Club Points
In addition to double points earned, members have the opportunity to reap richer rewards for high value bookings by earning an additional 35,000 supplementary points, with a minimum spending of US$20,000, on a single event or individual booking. There is no restriction on the number of high value bookings that can be made, and supplementary points will be received for each individual high value booking.
Millennium Hotels & Resorts announced a brand new single-tier loyalty programme last week - the newly-revamped My Millennium Guest Reward Programme does not feature a tier-level membership and it simply rewards members through stay enhancements or lifestyle rewards. In celebration of the launch of this new programme, every qualified stay booked via www.millenniumhotels.com between now and 30 September 2019 will be eligible for one entry into the lucky draw which comes with a grand prize of 1,000,000 My Points.
Staying in an AccorHotels property has just gotten a lot more attractive. While the Le Club AccorHotels loyalty program is expected to change late 2018, there is now an opportunity to earn up to triple Le Club AccorHotels points in Asia Pacific. Upon registration, you will earn double points on weekdays (Mondays to Thursdays) and triple points on weekends (Fridays to Sundays) from 11 March 2019 to 31 May 2019.
Now that Marriott Bonvoy has officially launched, a brand new promotion has unveiled for stays between 19 March 2019 and 04 June 2019 - members will be able to earn double base points from their second stay during the aforementioned period.
Make an eligible hotel reservation on Kaligo between 13 February 2019 (8:00AM Singapore Time) to 15 February 2019 (8:00AM Singapore Time) for stays before the end of 30 April 2019 to earn double the amount of miles and points on your chosen loyalty programme!
Hyatt has just published their annual award chart updates that will take effect on 18 March 2019 - the number of World of Hyatt points required for a free night will change at some hotels. As you may remember, Points + Cash rates are now less attractive as members are required to pay 50% of the Standard Rate for standard rooms. In general, most of the affected hotels in Asia will be experiencing a reduction in hotel category (meaning it will cost you less points for free night) but hotels in Japan and South Korea in particular will see an increase in the number of required points in the near future.
If you have been collecting Hilton Honors points conscientiously, you will have to spend them (as you should) at some point. Even though Hilton Honors no longer publish award chart changes, they just recently launched a brand new Points Explorer to help you determine the number of Hilton Honors points required for a free night.
While I do not generally purchase IHG Rewards Club Points, they can be quite attractive when utilised on high-demand periods (e.g. New Year’s Eve). Members can now purchase IHG Rewards Club Points with a 75% bonus when they complete the transaction between 28 February 2019. If you have immediate demand for these points, now is a great time to purchase them but if you do not have any plans for them, a 100% bonus runs from time to time (but this is not a fixed promotion).
Purchase World of Hyatt Points before the end of 22 February 2019 to get 30% more (minimum of 5,000 points is required). It is worth repeating that World of Hyatt members are now required to pay 'more' for free nights using Points + Cash since the cash component is pegged to 50% of the standard rate. However, if you are in need of World of Hyatt Points, now may be a good time to purchase them since you got 30% more.
Many of you will remember that the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has acquired a 51% stake in Regent Hotels & Resorts back in 2018 and now, it has been officially announced that IHG Rewards Club members will soon be able to earn and redeem points at these properties from 01 February 2019. While searching for hotels yesterday, I noticed that the Regent Singapore (where I have stayed back in 2014) is already integrated into the IHG app - you can now book it via the platform but at the time of writing, reward nights are not yet available.
While the merger of three loyalty programs (Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and SPG) has not been exceedingly successful (at least in the eyes of an average consumer), the combined loyalty program will relaunch on 13 February 2019 with a brand new program name - Marriott Bonvoy. Some Platinum membership tiers will also be renamed to make the distinction a little more obvious.
