New Accelerate offers are up and you can now sign-in to see what your offers are for the upcoming quarter (15 May 2017 to 31 August 2017) ahead! In case you do not know what they are, they are basically a set of challenges that are tailored to your IHG Rewards Club account based on stay history and elite status. Completing these tasks will trigger an achievement bonus (which is usually quite impressive) that will earn you a lot of IHG Rewards Club points!
The easiest and most cost-effective way for me to complete my Accelerate offers for the upcoming quarter ahead is to stay twice in any InterContinental Hotels and Resorts in Asia-Pacific. Since I am based in Singapore, this can be easily taken care of by staying twice - one for a night and once over the weekend (two nights). Doing so will earn me 9,600 IHG Rewards Club points - it will also trigger my achievement bonus of 19,900 IHG Rewards Club points. If I complete one of the stays before 30 June 2017, I will also earn an additional 2,500 IHG Rewards Club points (a grand total of 32,000 points). In addition to that, my stays will also trigger the bonuses on the Book Direct with IHG challenge - two stays will trigger 14,000 IHG Rewards Club points.
I recently received an email from a reader with the following InterContinental Ambassador benefits - do note that this is not official and it was basically a survey that was sent out to a member in the IHG Rewards Club Advisors team. The proposed membership in this survey is priced at USD 250 (instead of USD 200 at the moment) and it offers a number of potentially interesting and useful benefits on top of the usual ones that current InterContinental Ambassador members are getting.
IHG Rewards Club members can now register for the latest Accelerate promotion that will be running from 01 May 2018 to 31 July 2018. All you have to do is to click on the Accelerate Q2 landing page and sign-in using your IHG Rewards Club details to reveal a set of tailored challenges which you will have the option of completing during the aforementioned period.
The InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay is one of the newest hotels in Singapore as it was one of the latest hotels to open in 2017 (which was a great year in Singapore for all of us hotel-lovers). Not to be confused with the InterContinental Singapore in Bugis, the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay is located in a quieter and somewhat residential area of Singapore but with all that being said, it still minutes away from the city. Check out my review of the Club InterContinental Riverview Studio here!
The Crowne Plaza Changi Airport has once again been named the World's Best Airport Hotel as well as the Best Airport Hotel in Asia for the fourth consecutive year at the World Airport Awards by Skytrax. In addition to this, the property will also be celebrating her 10th anniversary this year by giving away a grand prize worth S$18,000 (inclusive of 1 million IHG Rewards Club points!) as well as special room packages with added benefits.
IHG Rewards Club has been running a number of Book Direct offers for the last couple of years to offer bonus IHG Rewards Club points for members who book directly - this is to minimise commission paid to OTAs like Expedia. This year, IHG Rewards Club members will once again have the chance to earn up to 70,000 bonus points for simply completing three eligible stays before the end of 31 December 2018 - you get 1,000 bonus points for simply signing-up!
While I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium previously, I checked-in at the property once again recently as I wanted to complete one of my Accelerate challenges for the final quarter (speaking of which, you should register for the Accelerate challenges next quarter). More importantly, I actually stayed here three years ago and I wanted to revisit it to have a more current review of this property - I also wanted to pig out at Zion Riverside Food Centre but that's a different story for another time. Check out my review of the Executive Room here at the Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium!
When you have memberships across different loyalty programs, it is always a good idea for you to keep track of it (manually or otherwise). I have previously written about AwardWallet which is free to use (but premium features can only be unlocked when you make a contribution) and today I just wanted to mention how useful it actually is because I actually discovered that my account got hacked through this very platform - 339,500 points were gone!
I recently stayed in a Premier Suite at the InterContinental Singapore over New Year's Eve (well, I actually checked-in on 30 December 2017 and checked-out on 01 January 2018) and was curious to know which set of Accelerate challenges it would count towards. More importantly, I was curious to know whether the elite-qualifying nights counted towards my 2017 or 2018 quota.
There will be some upcoming changes to the number of IHG Rewards Club points required for a Reward Night this year. Additionally, a higher category of hotels will be introduced and these properties will be priced at 70,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night - this is 10,000 more points than the highest requirement of 60,000 points right now.
The beginning of every new year comes with a multitude of decisions that I have to make and one of them is essentially deciding the number of loyalty programs that I will endeavour to retain elite status with. The InterContinental Ambassador membership is an easy decision to make - it requires zero effort (even though I do stay in InterContinental properties throughout the year) and it simply requires USD 150 to renew each year (USD 200 for the first year). The benefits of being an InterContinental Ambassador can easily pay itself off in one stay and I highly recommend anyone with plans to stay in an InterContinental property to consider purchasing this membership.
