Upcoming Fee and Policy Changes to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Program - Effective 5 June 2018
My favourite frequent flyer program right now has got to be Alaska Airlines's Mileage Plan (even though I have not actually flown a single mile on Alaska Airlines before). The reason is very simple - the miles are simply worth a lot more and crediting the same revenue Business Class flights give me a whole lot more value. You might remember that these miles are also incredibly useful for traveling on Japan Airlines in Business Class and what a lot of people do not realise is that you are actually able to cancel your award tickets up to 60 days prior to departure but this is going to change on 5 June 2018.

The most important policy update that is happening on 05 June 2018 is the change and cancellation charge - this used to be complimentary if your trip is more than 60 days before departure but starting from the aforementioned date, the change and cancellation fee will now be US$125. With that being said, if you are an MVP Gold or an MVP Gold 75K Mileage Plan member, these fees will not apply to you - you will not be required to pay a change or cancellation fee.
Additionally, the 24-hour free cancellation policy will now only apply to tickets booked for travel starting 24 hours or more from the time of purchase. There will also be some updates to the same-day confirmed changes - starting from 5 June 2018, there will no longer be a 6-hour window requirement and you can request a same-day change at any time during check-in.
Business Class passengers now enjoy complimentary inflight Wi-Fi when traveling on Cathay Pacific.
