SilkAir to receive Cabin Product Upgrade and be merged into Singapore Airlines

The regional wing of Singapore Airlines, SilkAir is set to undergo a significant investment program where the cabin products will be upgraded as part of a multi-year initiative before finally being merged into Singapore Airlines. SilkAir unveiled their brand new 737 MAX 8s last year and even though it currently operates a fleet Airbus and Boeing aircraft, it is transitioning to an all-737 fleet.

The $100 million investment program will upgrade the wholly owned subsidiary’s cabins with new lie-flat seats in Business Class, and the installation of seat-back in-flight entertainment systems in both Business Class and Economy Class. This will ensure closer product and service consistency across the SIA Group’s full-service network.
