World of Hyatt to Introduce Peak and Off-peak Pricing for Free Nights (on Points) from March 2020 - Buy Points at 40% Bonus Now!

Marriott Bonvoy introduced peak and off-peak rates for award redemption stays back in September 2019 and now, World of Hyatt will be implementing something similar starting from March 2020. In addition to standard rates (which start from just 5,000 points per night), World of Hyatt will be introducing off-peak (from 3,500 points) and peak rates (from 6,500 points) from March 2020.

If you have an existing award booking and it drops to off-peak in March 2020, you will automatically get a one-time refund of the point difference - there will be no change to the points requirement for existing bookings even if it goes to peak (so long you do not make any further changes from March 2020). You can currently purchase World of Hyatt Points with a 40% bonus until 31 December 2019 so it is definitely a good idea to lock in those stays if you already have them planned - you can always cancel them later for no charge.

As a quick reminder, World of Hyatt Points can typically be purchased at USD 24 per 1,000 block but with the 40% bonus, it brings the price down to just USD 17.14 per 1,000 block. If you are based in Singapore, the OCBC 90°N Card will give you 4 miles per dollar on all eligible non-SGD transactions charged to the card until 29 February 2020. World of Hyatt will also give you more value for your points when you put them towards dining, spa, in-room purchases and more starting from 29 January 2020 (USD 25 = 2,500 points) but honestly, these points are better put towards hotel stays.
