You Can Now Earn 10 Elite Qualifying Nights Each Year with Marriott Rewarding Events
With Marriott Bonvoy now in full swing, the terms and conditions of the loyalty have also been updated accordingly. The wording in the refreshed T&Cs now state that ten elite nights per calendar year will be "awarded to the Member for his/her first group, event or meeting, and thereafter, one (1) Elite Night Credit will be awarded for every twenty (20) rooms booked and actualized, up to a maximum of twenty (20) Elite Night Credits per contract. Points or Miles may be earned in addition to Elite Night Credits for Rewarding Events". What this means is that you can easily hold a small (and cheap!) event just to earn 10 elite qualifying nights.
Aaron from The MileLion previously mentioned that the Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Riverview is the cheapest property to hold an event. According to his previous communication with the property, the cheapest room costed S$500++ for a four hour event. Additionally, the base earn rate for these events is 2 points per USD - therefore, by spending just S$588.50, you can get approximately 730 points (which is pathetic by any measure) and more importantly, 10 elite qualifying nights - this works out to under S$60 a night which is great if you are in need of additional nights for status retention and qualification.
4.2.a.iv When booking a qualifying group event or meeting with Rewarding Events, ten (10) Elite nights per calendar year will be awarded to the Member for his/her first group, event or meeting, and thereafter, one (1) Elite Night Credit will be awarded for every twenty (20) rooms booked and actualized, up to a maximum of twenty (20) Elite Night Credits per contract. Points or Miles may be earned in addition to Elite Night Credits for Rewarding Events.
