OCBC Bank Customers Can Pay Anyone Using Google Pay Singapore - Transferred Funds Go Directly into PayNow Linked Account
Regardless of whether you are an Apple or Android™ user, OCBC Bank Customers can now use the new Google Pay™ Singapore app to transfer funds to anyone who has a PayNow-linked account instantly. Additionally, customers will get a chance to earn cash rewards (in the form of a scratch card) for every eligible transfer and this gets deposited directly into your bank account.
What is Google Pay Singapore?
OCBC Bank customers will be the first in Southeast Asia to be able to have peer-to-peer (p2p) payments via Google Pay. All they have to do is to download the Google Pay Singapore app, which can be found by any customer who has Singapore as their Google Play Store or App Store default country. Then, link any OCBC Bank’s current or savings account to it in order to start making instant p2p transfers. On top of the existing OCBC Mobile Banking or OCBC Pay Anyone app, customers now have one more option to make fuss-free instant fund transfers.
For consumers in Singapore, the PayNow platform is integrated with Google Pay and therefore, consumers are able to transfer funds (up to a daily transfer limit of S$1,000) in real-time to anyone who has a linked account on PayNow, using the Google Pay app. The recipient is not required to have downloaded the Google Pay app or even an OCBC Bank account to receive the funds.
In addition to sending money to friends and family, the new Google Pay Singapore app also provides you chances to earn cashback on these fund transfers, order takeaway ahead of time from your favorite restaurants, tap and pay at stores islandwide (for those using an Android phone), and more!
How to Make a Fund Transfer with Google Pay?
Customers will have to download the Google Pay Singapore app (available on iOS and Android) and perform a one-time setup to enable payments via the Google Pay app - simply following the steps below to setup:
Click Get Started and tick the box to agree to the Google Pay Singapore app’s terms and conditions
Key in PayNow-linked mobile phone number into the app
Enter the one-time password sent and click submit
A message will be displayed indicating the successful setup
Set up screen lock. Payments can only be made when the phone is unlocked to ensure a secure experience
The Google Pay P2P service has a daily transfer limit of S$1,000
Earn Cash Rewards (Scratch Card for Transfers Above S$10)
As an added form of a bonus, Google Pay users will stand the chance to earn additional cash rewards when they send S$10 or more using the app. By sending at least S$10 to a unique recipient on the Google Pay Singapore app, users will receive a Scratch Card which will allow them to earn cash rewards of up to S$30! If you are a lucky winner, the cash reward from your Scratch Card will be deposited into your PayNow-linked bank account directly. Do note that you will only be able to receive up to a maximum of two digital scratch cards a week on the Google Pay Singapore app.
From now to 24 May, OCBC Bank customers stand a chance to win a Google Pixel 4™ smart phone (worth S$1,199) every week via a ‘name game’. Two letters of the alphabet will be announced at the start of each week. If customers’ names contain both of the released letters for the week, they will be in the running for a Google Pixel 4 smart phone if they manage to clock the highest number of P2P transactions a week. Check out OCBC Bank’s Facebook page for the weekly release of the two letters!
More Helpful Features
OCBC Bank customers who add their credit or debit cards to the Google Pay Singapore app will also be able to order takeaways from their favourite restaurants which will, in turn, allow them to skip the queue when they order ahead of time. With safe distancing measures in place across Singapore, the ability to order takeaway from the comfort of their homes, pay within the Google Pay Singapore app and pick up their food when ready will benefit Singaporeans looking to minimise their time spent outside.
