UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card to Discontinue Complimentary Airport Transfers from April 2026

One of the most compelling reasons to hold the UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card has always been its relatively low barrier to entry for complimentary airport transfers. However, cardmembers have a little over a year left to enjoy this perk. UOB has updated its Terms and Conditions to reflect that the complimentary airport transfer benefit will be discontinued effective 1 April 2026.

Historically, the UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card stood out from its Visa and Mastercard siblings by offering up to two complimentary airport transfers per quarter, provided cardmembers met a minimum spend of S$1,000 in foreign currency within the same period. From 1 April 2026, this benefit will no longer be available, effectively removing the primary differentiator for the American Express variant of the card.

While the discontinuation is a blow to many, it is no secret that the booking process with the service provider, Maxicab, has often been a point of contention for cardmembers. Despite the utility of the free rides, securing a confirmation was frequently a painful experience, as the provider was known for not replying to messages or emails in a timely manner. Furthermore, it is important to remember the inherent limitations of this benefit. The complimentary transfers can only be utilised for airport departure rides; arrivals are not covered under this specific programme.

With the removal of the airport transfer perk, there is now essentially no reason to pick the American Express version over the Mastercard and Visa variants of this card. The latter two are significantly more widely accepted in Singapore and abroad, and the Mastercard version even offers its own set of network benefits that you can enjoy without being confined to the limited merchant network of American Express. The card also retains the frustrating S$5 block of spend requirement to earn miles, which makes it a relatively unattractive option for small, everyday transactions. Given these factors, the card has lost its edge in the competitive miles market. I will personally be cancelling this card in 2026 Q2 once the airport transfer benefit officially ceases.
